I had just come from a sleepover at my friend's house on Saturday. I was bonding with my family so I slept on the floor in living room while my mom and 2 younger brothers where 3 feet away.

I was planning to pierce my belly button but it hurt too much. I had been interested in the nostril piercing since 6 grades (I'm in 8th) and so I just decided to pierce it. I was laying down watching music videos when I started getting ready. I put the safety pin in alcohol after I burned it with a lighter. I let it sit there while I took some clothes and cleaned my nostril area. I took the pin out of the alcohol and laid on my stomach. I started to push the pin through and I heard it go through the layers or my nose. It wasn't gross to me or anything I just never really heard anything like it. I got to the last layer (the inside skin) and the needle wouldn't go through! I got up and went to my bedroom to get the sewing needle. I went across the hall to the bathroom and quickly switched the needles. The sewing needle went through and then came out. I only got a tip out but that was enough.
I took an earring (a regular earring) and put it in my nose. I put the earring in and it had to break the skin inside the nose again! It didn't hurt. Through the whole ordeal I didn't feel any pain. All that was felt was pressure. Not even that. I just felt something in my nose.
Through the whole night I was terrified of my mom waking up and seeing it. I know I would die. I slowly went into my room and STILL lived in fear. My mom came in my room at 3:00am and smacked me in my head yelling at me for having my TV. on. Then she came BACK and yelled at me because she found a needle in the bathroom.
Then I started panicking. I knew if she saw I would die. At 8:00am I got dressed and wrote a note to my mom saying that I would be at the mall because I pierced my nose and I know she would kill me. I said I'll be back soon. I TRIED to sneak out my house but my mom hears all. I had to move the trash and laundry from in front of the door and it was making noise. I heard my mom take a deep breath then I moved on to the door. I opened the door and it creaked. Then it made a loud bang sound. I finally got it open and I RAN down the hall. I jumped down the stairs and then I heard my mom SCREAMING my name. Now people, I was a block away by now.
I started running and made it 2 blocks and then I started having a near heart attack (not really). I knew my mom was coming behind me but suddenly the train came so she couldn't reach me for a couple minutes.
I walked to the mall and sat there for 1 hour before calling my mom. She was very calm for a person who yells 24/7. We talked and I tried to explain to her why I did it and why I left. In true mom fashion she was hearing me but she wasn't listening to a word. She told me she had called my father (in Jamaica) and many other people. Then she said when I got my nose ring, come home.
Claire's took to long to open so I went home and got a lecture. I sat on the floor listening to my mom talk about how wrong I am and all that good stuff. My mom made me cleaned my entire room. 2 of her friends came over and listened to my mother's side of the story. They tried to explain to her that I'm a teen and we do these things and she shouldn't have called the cops and stuff. My mom ignored them of course.
After 1 hour, her friends took me back to the mall to get a nose ring from Claire's. We stood by the earring thing for 15 minutes trying to figure out if it was for the nose. Then I saw some belly rings which is usually where ALL the body jewelry are so we checked it out. There they picked out 3 studs for me and stood for 15 minutes trying to decided what tongue ring they wanted.
We paid Claire's and left, going straight to Target. There we got some Cappuccinos and tried to find the alcohol and peroxide in the Super Target.
I don't have any problem with people piercing themselves. I'm happy I did because I got to go at the pace that I was comfortable with. I do advise that you have supplies ready. I had everything but the ring! If you're going to do self piercing, make sure you know what to do and how to do it. If you have no clues then don't do it yourself. I got lucky. There are many things that can go wrong and no one wants anything bad to happen to them because of some piercing. I looked on the internet and did all the research I could to learn where to pierce it and how to pierce it. I love my piercing and I'm going to take care of it so nothing happens. Hope you enjoyed!
