I decided I wanted to get my nose pierced on quite a spur-of-the-moment thought.

It had always kind of freaked me out, the thought of a piercing in your nose - considering it's not exactly the cleanest place on the body!

Anyway, initially I had wanted my septum pierced. I think that piercing is beautiful & suits lots of people, but I'm just not sure if it is for me. Plus, it sounds really painful! Haha.

Two of my friends had had their nostrils done which kind of put me off a bit, because I didn't want it to look as though I had followed them in to the idea. But it occurred to me - who cares what people think? It's something I'd love to have!

Anyway, I asked my Mum about it. I always have to consult her or else I feel bad about doing something that she might hate. She said nose piercings were her favorite, which just motivated me to get it even more!

It's the Easter Holidays too, which means I had time to think about it. I researched it on the net, as always. I was worried that because I get hayfever it would be a bad idea, but the only way I would know would mean having the piercing done!

My boyfriend & I had spent all the holidays doing nothing, so something like this would be a good reason to get outside. He said he thought it would suit me, so I gave myself the whole 'Yes you should!'

When we got to the studio I noticed I wasn't at all nervous. Usually I'm shaking with nerves by the time I get there but this time I was fine.

I asked for a nostril piercing & filled out the sheet etc. Marcus asked what colour of jewellry I'd like, so I showed him my navel jewellry which is blue & asked if it could be close to that. He showed me 3 different pieces, so I went for the smaller one as I suffer from hayfever & heard that larger gauges can exacerbate allergies. Whether this is true or not, I have no idea.

After the jewellry had been autoclaved, Marcus lead me in to the room. My boyfriend joined for 'moral support' as they call it!

He got the sterile equipment out of its packages & put gloves on. After marking my nose, he changed the gloves again & grabbed the needle. I was really unsure as to whether this would hurt or not. I didn't think it would, because it's such a common piercing.

The needle went through & it actually really hurt. I mean, I think I have high pain threshold considering I once had 5 piercings in one day, so maybe it was the whether or something...

I have no idea how he got the jewellry in, as the receiving tube is straight and the jewellry is kindof twisted. It was over in about 30 seconds anyway!

I usually faint when I have piercings, but I didn't the last time, when I got my lip done, & I didn't this time either, which I am proud of. Haha. I did go pale though, so Marcus gave me some water.

We had a talk about surface piercings & microdermals, which I am hopefully going to get for my 18th, unless I get a tattoo.

I went to pay & Graham was at the till. We talked more about microdermals & Marcus showed me some. Haha, I made a fool of myself by saying "wow they're tiny!" to which Graham replied "Well they wouldn't be micro if they weren't..." haha.

Anyway, the piercing hurt to touch later on but I left it alone. The first night it was fine, but last night I must have knocked it or something because I woke up to some pain, only to realise the jewellry was half out of the piercing! It was easy to push back in, but I was half asleep so I'm not even sure if it actually happened... haha.

In general the piercing is fine, unless my nose gets itchy and I forget about the piercing. Ouch.

I definitely recommend this piercing though, as it is aesthetically pleasing & seems to always receive positive comments :] My boyfriend & Mum love it, which is just an extra bonus & makes the pain all the more worth it.

Oh & please don't take my experience as 'the one' to go by, because one of my friends said she didn't flinch & the piercing didn't hurt her at all, & that it was fine later on. This just goes to prove that everybody' experience differs :]

If you would like to email me about this piercing or any other, please feel free. Happy piercing!
