In about November of 2006, I was looking at piercings on this site, Looking for the one that I wanted. My mom had told me I was allowed to get one facial piercing, so I had to decide carefully.

I had gone through many piercings, trying to find the right one for me. I wasn't allowed my lip pierced. So I had to find something else. One day I came across the septum piercing. I then fell in love with it.

I did all my research before asking my mom if I could get it done. I heard it was suppose to be a very painful piercing, And I'm a big baby to begin with. So I didn't know if I could handle the pain.

I also asked a few friends that had gotten it done and they had told me not to get it done because it was very painful for the first piercing.

I also knew that all my friends would hate it and ask me why I got that done. Its not the most common piercing here. Only a few people in my school have it. And im the only one in grade 9. But really, I wanted the piercing for me and not for anybody else.

Around the end of January, I decided, This was the time. I wasn't really worried about the pain anymore because I really wanted it done.

I Had asked my mom before and she had said we would talk about it some other time. So one day I decide to ask my mom again and surprisingly all she said was "So when do you want to go?" I told her today was fine. So I had no chance to chicken out.

My mom and I leave to go. Surprisingly I was not nervous at all yet. We get there, We were the only ones there because of the weather that day so I filled the page out and he asked me what kind of ring I wanted in, I chose the retainer because I thought I would have to hide it. After he got the retainer out he told me to lay down.

Im now laying there, watching him put on gloves on and cleaning everything. He then takes the needle out and he cleaned my nose. For some reason I still wasn't that nervous.

He puts the clamps on and I close my eyes. I swear the clamps were really the most painful thing out of everything. I was a little nervous right about now since this was my first real piercing. My mom was still out there talking to the other piercer about who knows what because she said she couldn't watch. the piercer then tells me to take a deep breath and I wait for the needle to go through.

Surprisingly, it didn't hurt, at all. It felt very weird with the needle going through. . He then told me how to take care of it, and asked me if I was alright to get up and walk. I told him I was fine and I went up and paid. And that was it

The first few days of healing were horrid. It was impossible to move and it bled when i cleaned it. But, I was expecting that. I cleaned it twice a day with medical grade soap and I would do a 10minute saline soak every day for the first few weeks of healing. It healed very nicely and now I have switched it to a circular barbell.

I think he did a really good job. It's not crooked at all. and it healed very well. I really love my first piercing and I hope to get more in the future.

My mom hated it and she kept on asking me why I would want such a grosse piercing. I didn't really care what she said, come on she was my mom. She now calls me a freak. But, I didn't get it for anyone else. My friends at school didn't like it at first but they got use to it. My friends were also so surprised because I didn't ask anyone's opinion except for a few so nobody knew I was getting it. I even had teachers asking me why I wanted something sticking out of my nose. my answer was I wanted it! I love the piercing. And I don't care if the world hates it.

I think If anyone is thinking about getting this piercing, Go ahead. Its a great piercing. And I loved the reaction to some people in my classes when they saw it for the first time.

I guess you just have to be ready for the pain. It all depends on the person if it hurts or not. I was guess one of the people that don't feel it. You also have to be ready for all the grossed out comments you will get. Just remember you get it for you and nobody else.
