So, let me set the scene for you. Imagine a short little girl, 14 years of age, begging her mother profusively to let her kind, loving daughter (he he) let her get her nose pierced. It not a common thing now is it? Well, after about 6, yes six months of begging, her mother gives in.

On April 13th the mother takes her daughter to this wonderful shop in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The people working are very welcoming. The environment is incredible. It just feels great. Really does make all your worries go away.
Now, I'm ending third person. :]
I'm standing in this shop while mom surprisingly willingly signs the papers. The guy next to me is chatting on his cell phone about how he is going to supposedly get a full back piece or what not.
After about, 10-15 minutes of waiting for the papers to be signed, and everything explained. I get called back, I watch everything get sterilized. Finally I get marked, and "hop" to the mirror to check it out, I like the placement. Now, the piercer explains everything again, and pretty much makes sure we are on the same page with everything.
Now, I get clamped. Then he tells me to breath in, and count to three. I take a deep breath in, One, Two, Needle In...OW OW OW, Three, Needle Out..Relief. Then he inserts the jewelry. And BOOM, all done.
I feel a little light headed, it happens with all my piercings. I'm such a wimp. To my surprise, the piercer wets a cloth and lies it on my forehead. After about 5 minutes of being a wimp, I stumble to the mirror. Immediately, I begin to smile. I love it, it was a little red, but I loved it.
The piercer then hands me some H2Ocean, and gives me some paperwork about cleaning my new piercing, and tells me pretty much what the paperwork says. I pay him $45, leave him a sweet $5 tip, Thank him and walk out happily.
I then continue home and picture mail over half the people on my phone my new piercing. Such a dork..
As soon as I get home, I run to the bathroom and clean my nose. Somehow I 2 minute job turned out to be 10 minutes staring at that cute little stud in my nose. I loved it. It was my favorite color, black, and was titanium. It was love.
I continued to clean my piercing 2-3 times a day for at least 3 weeks. After noticing no infection, or pain, I just quit cleaning it. Smart idea on my behalf isn't it? Yeah, okay...right.
Now, if you believe that it never got infected, I have a beautiful pink bridge in Ireland to sell you.
An astonishing 5 days later, I wake up with my nose glued to the pillow. After pulling my self of the pillow, and running to the bathroom, I noticed my nose has swelled some, and I had a "beautiful" infection.
I immediately cleaned it with some peroxide. Which burned like a motha. I did this for a good 2 weeks, the infection never went down. So, I got my mom to take me back to where I got it pierced. The guy that pierced me was standing at the counter, I walked up to him blushing at my stupidity. He pretty much told me to clean it more often until the swelling goes down then come back. He handed me some sea salt, and said to start soaking my nose in it twice a day. I know I had to look at him like he was a moron, because he then began to explain what to do. Apparently I had to mix sea salt with water then take and soak a washcloth in it, then lay the washcloth on my nose for 5 minutes twice a day. Plus I had to it more often with the H2Ocean stuff.
About a month, yes I typed right. A solid month later the infection went away. I was slam out of sea salt, H2Ocean and half empty with peroxide. So, maybe I got a little carried away on the cleaning.
My nostril hurt for a good 2 months after the infection went away. It is now a year and a half later. I just have got up the nerve to change my stud about 3 weeks ago.
I wish I had cleaned my nostril for the full 12 weeks as I was instructed several times to do. I have had no more trouble with it since then. I still love it. I get a lot of compliments on it, which confuses me a little, it is only a stud, nothing dramatic, but it does not bother me.
The place I got pierced at is all I trust with my body. They are the most friendly, outgoing, upbeat, welcoming people you will ever meet in my life. My mom is now more open to piercings because of them.
I love my nose stud, and hope that you enjoyed my experience. Just remember, keep your new piercing clean for the full amount of time even if it is painless and you are not having problems with it. :]
