I am a mother of 12-year-old daughter. I am not against the nose piercing but I don't have it. My daughter likes it too much and since last 2 years she is pressing me to get pierce her nose. As her age is not mature, so I refused her. But as she had told me so many times, so ultimately I was agreed and allowed her for nose piercing. She told me to search a piercer for her. First I discussed it with my husband, he was agreed and he told me to get pierce my nose too. Then I talked to my family doctor and he agreed to pierce the nose of my daughter.

Last week on 22nd December 2006, Sunday, I told to my daughter to be ready in the evening, as I will take her to Doctor to pierce her nose. She was very much excited and was ready in the evening, when I came after my office work.

I first talked to doctor and confirm my visit. We now reached at his clinic. On our turn he called us. When he saw my daughter, he explained her that if once your nose is pierced and later on you want to remove it, then scar will be there. But my daughter replied that she is not going to remove it.

Now doctor told her to sit on chair in front of him. I was also called there to stand in front of my daughter. Now doctor took a pen and made a mark on left nostril of my daughter, where he was going to pierce. I said ok. Now he took the needle with thread and put the needle on the mark and pressed it. The needle was out shortly from the lower side of nostril and he pulled the needle now thread was passing from nostril. After pulling the thread he added both the end of threads and cut the balance thread. My daughter's nose was pierced. She did not feel any problem and was very much happy. After seeing her nose pierced, she requested me to get it. As my husband also wanted the same, so I could not refuse my daughter's request and told to doctor to pierce my nose too. Now the same procedure was adopted again and doctor took the pen once again and made a mark on my nose. After satisfying with the spot to be pierced, I said yes and he put the needle there and pressed. As soon as needle passed from lower side, it was pain and my eyes were watering. Meanwhile, doctor pulled the needle and pulls the thread and finally he added both the ends of thread. And like this my nose was also pierced.

When we came to our home back, every body in home was surprised to see both of us. I was feeling shy but my daughter was very happy. Now I am feeling slightly pain, but my daughter is not feeling any pain and she is showing her newly pierced nose to every one and telling the entire story about my self too. As per the advice of doctor, we applied some oil on piercing point and tried to slightly move the thread, but it was paining. From the 3rd day, the thread started moving and we applied again oil on moving thread. From the 5th day onward, the thread started moving easily.

The thread (black) is not looking good too much, so I am thinking to change it to a nose ring. I asked my daughter about replacement of thread and what she wants. There were two options, 1st nose pin and the 2nd nose ring. We both agreed for gold wires and accordingly we purchased 2 gold wires from the market and replaced it with the thread.

First I took a scissor and called my daughter to replace the thread with the new gold wire. These wires were of sharp pointed from one side. I checked that thread was moving easily then I cut it and pulled the thread out. Now I took one nose wire and put it at newly pierced nostril of my daughter and pressed it slightly and it was out very easily from the lower side, now I added both ends of ring. My daughter was very much happy to see it, as it was looking very beautiful.

Now it was my turn, I again cut the thread and slightly pulled the thread from the lower side. The thread was out, now I took the 2nd gold wire with one side pointed and put the pointed side at my nostril and pressed it slightly, it went down easily and wire was out from another side. I added both end and it was really beautiful.

In the evening when my husband came back, he appraised it very much and told me why it was not done early.

In my views, nose piercing should be done in a safe method only and should care in the first week.
