Over the years I have had a few piercings. My first piercing was when i was 11 which was my ear lobes. I was 16 when i had my first lip piercing and within months i had another two done. At the moment I have three labret, a scaffold in my right ear, one set in my ear lobes and my septum pierced. I also had my eyebrow pierced but I had to take it out because it was always sore and even after a year it hadn't healed properly.

I read up on the process and options, using a number of websites including this one also checking the length of time the piercing would take.I also discovered that while having the piercing done would mean my keeping very very still and although I was wary in the early stages of getting the piercing done, as the time went by I got more and more used to the idea and grew very excited about the new piercing I was about to have.
I chose West Coast Tattoos studio in Aberystwyth as I have had all of my tattoos done there and felt comfortable getting my septum pierced there. The staff members are friendly and will answer any questions you have to ask. They also have a good reputation and their tattoo/piercing room is always hygienic. I always check the cleanliness of establishments before making a decision on whether to use the service or not.
A few weeks later came the day of the piercing and the butterflies as I knew there was going to be pain involved. Two friends accompanied me to the tattoo studio as they were both having tattoos as well and they were also there for moral support for me. I was last in line, time flew and I was fine until it was time for me to get my new piercing done. I took a deep breath and walked into the room where the tattoos and piercings were done.
The room was clean, tidy and all equipment, jewellery etc was sterilised and the piercer wore gloves to do the tattoos/piercings. The piercing was also filmed as part of the Studio's routine.
I sat on the chair and was told to relax while I was talked through what was going happen step by step.
The piercer then asked if I was ok to go ahead, which I was, so he checked my septum and then proceeded in clamping it in order to ensure that the piercing would be straight. Both of my friends were stood watching what was happening. That was the moment I closed my eyes as I knew what was coming next, a few seconds later there was the sharp pain, which seemed to last for ages although was only a few seconds.
When I was finally able to open my eyes they just poured with tears and throughout the piercing I didnt move once. Now, the needle was through and the jewellery needed to be put through and for a few seconds I was sat with this needle sticking through my nose.
There was a little pain again as the jewellery (which was a ring) was being put in and then he was done and I was so glad. I was so proud of myself that I had gone through with having it done. I was then given instructions for aftercare (which I did follow as he'd explained).
I then paid for the piercing which was £20 (which I thought was cheap compared to my other piercings, the others were £25, i had expected the septum piercing to be much more expensive) and went home to show off my new piercing.
I have had no problems with my septum piercing at all, it was just a bit sore for a few days especially on certain occasions where not long after having it done I forgot it was there and when I laughed and tried covering my mouth I'd smack myself in the nose and feel like crying (I am clumsy sometimes!!).
A year on and my septum piercing has fully healed, and I am debating what to get pierced next, whether it's going to be the bridge of my nose or anti-eyebrow. Whichever I decide I will be returning to West Coast Tattoos to get it done.
