The first time I got my nosed pierced I was 19. I got pierced with a larger stud than I would have liked but I like it anyway. I decided to keep it because at the time not many people were doing it. I had it for about a week when my mom saw it and refused to pay for my college unless I took it out. After a huge fight I decided to take it out, which was very painful to do. I thought that it would just kind of pop out but to my surprise there was a lot of tugging and pulling involved. Ouch! I believe the reason why it was so hard to get out was because that placed the backing of the stud on the lining of my nose so that it did not look like there was something hanging out of my nose, which I liked, but it make it much harder to remove.

I missed it so much that when I was in Addison one night at the bars I decided to go over to Kat tattoo to get it re-done. The second time def. hurt much worse than the first. I'm not sure if there was some kind of scar tissue or what but it hurt enough to make me tear up a bit. After the piercing was over I looked in the mirror and saw that the stud was much smaller than the first time I had it done. I was very happy with it and the pain went away shortly (and after a few drinks :) ). When I went to show my mom she was actually not mad about it. The stud was smaller so she thought it was kind of cute and hey, I WAS 21 so what could she REALLY say?
My nose piercing went well for about 2 months until I noticed a little bump around the ring. I cleaned the area with antibacterial soap and removed the stud to get a better look at it. I put the stud back in and went to bed. The next morning the bump was a bit purple and red and larger. I called the tattoo place and they told me to come in. They looked at it and said that it was scar tissue that had formed from taking the stud out the first time I got it pierced. I was thinking that maybe when I tugged on it to come out that I might have torn the skin a little which caused the scar tissue to form. I thought about taking it out but didn't want to because I thought the piercing was cute and I did go through some pain to get it. I decided to tough it out in hopes that it would go away. I went to the store the next day and bought some kind of anti-inflammatory cream to see if that would help make it go away. It seemed to make it smaller but it returned it a few days. It was kind of strange because the bump would be there for a week and then go away. I actually went to see a doctor about it. He told me that it was indeed built up scar tissue that would not go away using any types of creams or soaps. Call me crazy, but I still continued to search for a product that would fix my issue. I later decided to switch out the stud thinking that make putting something new in would be like starting fresh. I went to Fine Line tattoo in Dallas to get the stud. At this time the bump was not there. I picked out a tiny stud with a diamond on it. The piercer put it in for me and everything seemed fine. The bump remained gone for about another month when it showed back up. I started to notice that if I fell asleep with my makeup on that the bump on my nose would show up that day more. The more I washed my face the less often the bump would show up. I do have the occasional late night when out at the club that I go to sleep (or pass out) with makeup on and there is the gross bump again. It gets really annoying when you see tons of girls with a nose stud that is bump free and looks good when your looks bad.
Today, I am about to turn 23 and still have the nose stud. The bump still occurs but not often and it can be covered with makeup. The only thing that does concern me is that I was thinking about taking it out so I could get a madonna but I'm afraid that I might have a scar on my nose forever. I would like to hear from anyone that has or has had this problem since I have never seen anyone else with it.
