In all honesty, I always hated septum piercing's. I loved body mods, and thought they all looked beautiful in there own unique way...but to me septum piercing's just had something about them I didn't like, and I could never put my finger on what it was.

I've had previous piercing's, and unfortunately, my first piercing was done with a gun, on my lobes, when I was 10. I then decided 1 year later I wanted another set of holes in my ears...still done by a gun. The next year I decided I wanted a cartilage piercing, again with a gun (which later got infected, so I pierced an area close by with a needle...yeah I was young). When I was 13 my mum said I was allowed to have a belly button piercing, I was never a huge fan, but I thought why not...so off we went. I was always telling myself it was my last, but then I got my tongue piercing just before my 16th birthday, then a labret piercing to celebrate finishing high school, a lip piercing (which is now retired) also arrived that year, then there was a self done nostril, to replace the lip piercing, I left it for a while after that, then the urge kept coming back to get something...so I decided on a VCH piercing, which is an amazing piercing...and then somehow I started looking at septum piercing's. I don't even know why, but I kept seeing images, and thinking wow they look really nice on her, he looks really hot with one to...and my mind slowly changed from hating them, to thinking they were all right, to NEEDING to have jewellery through my septum.

I decided the best place to go would be Pro Body Piercing in Bradford, the guy Paul did my retired lip piercing and VCH piercing. He always makes me feel so comfortable, and he is such a lovely guy. So I just needed to get round my partner, whom I live with...not so easy. He hates septum piercing's and nothing will change his mind, but he grew to accept me getting it pierced...only after a day of nagging! I then let my mum know during a conversation, so she didn't go mad at Christmas (I'm 18, anyone would think I was 12), and her only response was"...It's your body, do what you want...".

So on Wednesday the 13th of December, me and my partner walked on into town, me very nervous as I really am a wimp for pain, and every story had said it hurts, so I was nervous, and had lots of sugar in my system, not a good combination tehe. As we neared Pro Body Piercing we spotted Paul outside having a cigarette, so we wandered over to generally see how he was, and to make my request. He disappeared inside to wash his hands and clean up.

Me and my partner finished our cigarettes and made our way down the stairs to his studio. Its so clean and spacious looking with a few jewellery cabinets around containing...obviously jewellery. He called me through straight away and asked me to sit down whilst he got the jewellery and needle and clamps together. I asked him if I could have a bar, so that it stayed hidden, he advised against it, but I was adamant that it was what I wanted, even though it would take longer to heal. He put some antiseptic up my nose with cotton buds, then showed me the needle to prove it was sealed and clean etc, and the same with the clamps. His fingers were then in my nose, and I was giggling, I mean what else do you do when someone has there fingers up your nose?! He found my sweet spot, and clamped up, which wasn't really uncomfortable, it was just there, he lined up the needle ad pushed it through. It didn't hurt in my opinion, but it felt bloody rank. The sweet spot, is a space in between the 2 bits of gristly stuff in your nose, and the needles goes through there. I cant explain how it felt, for me it was disgusting, it wasn't a pain thing, it just felt horrible, I don't think I can ever word the way it felt, as appose to horrible tehe. He then pushed the bar through, again no pain, and it was done. He told me to come back in a few days to have the bar made to a smaller one, as it had to be big for swelling. I cleaned it with sea salt 2 times a day, morning and night, and tried to not touch it. But I had to, as my nose didn't swell, so the bar kept falling down, and it looked like I had 1 silver bogey all the time. I got paranoid about infection from me straightening it all the time, and then got worried I might rip the piercing or something. So on the 15th I went back and asked for a horseshoe bar, which he was more than happy to put in, in all fairness I should have listened to him from the beginning, as he knows what he's talking about. And he gave me a smaller bar in case I wanted it as well. And again off I went. It feels a lot better already, and I'm still cleaning it, and trying not to play with it. My friends have all said they think it looks cool as well, which is nice.

I think I love it tehe, the fact it can be there, or you can just hide it away...for example when seeing grandparents, makes it so much better 

I say to anyone, if you want it, don't be scared of the pain, everyone's pain levels are different. Go for it, or you will regret it! And if your around the Bradford area, go and see Paul, he's a great piercer.
