Okay, let's start at the beginning.

Months ago, or maybe even a year, I had discovered the nasallang piercing and I had fallen in love. However, I didn't just run out to go and get it. Instead I had spent months reading as much about it this new and exciting piercing as I could, like I always with any piercing. Considering it's a rare piercing there weren't very many pictures, so trying to find other people's experiences was almost impossible. I only got to read two experiences. Both had said that it didn't hurt to get pierced but the healing was the most difficult considering it was three piercings connected. I thought about it a lot, trying to imagine how much it would hurt and if it would be worth it. I'm not a stranger to pain, and often enjoy it odd enough, so I thought it would be all right.

However, when I finally got the money (I really can't save money) and I went in for my piercing, Jesse, the owner of Thrive Studios, and I talked about the pros and cons of the piercing. Unlike many other studios who would have just jumped up and said, "Yeah, sure!" Jesse thought it would be better to not do such an extreme piercing. He explained to me that he had talked to people who had it done and described it as "the kick in the face piercing." He said that out of all piercings it was probably the most painful and he didn't know anyone who had a fully healed nasallang but if I really wanted it he could do it for me. Considering there were way more cons than pros, I was convinced not to get it, the piercing that I had been infatuated with for so long. But I was already there and all pumped up to get pierced, so I decided that I wanted to get a different piercing. That's when I decided on getting my septum pierced, which wasn't really a piercing that I desired but I have always loved the look of it.

I wasn't at all nervous, so when I went back in later that evening I hopped in the chair all excited. I'm not new to piercings, but Jesse as a professional explained to me the familiar steps to caring for a piercing. I listened carefully in case there was anything I didn't already know that I should know. He gave me different options to how to clean it. There was the common sea salt soak and this new product he had purchased for his studio. I ended up choosing this mixture of dead sea salt and neem that comes in a spray bottle which is good for any piercing that's in your nose. It also helps that it works for any piercing.

He then gave me an option between a 14g ring and a 16g ring. I quickly decided for the 14g and he agreed that it would be a good size. He then got all his tools ready, cleaned his hands, put his gloves on and then checked out my nose for the perfect place. Once we were both sure it was good, he picked up the needle and began to push it through. The clamps were kind of cold and felt uncomfortable in my nose and at first that's all I could focus on until I felt the needle. I wasn't expecting much pain, and it really wasn't all that painful. But I won't lie, it hurt a bit and my eyes watered uncontrollably. Tears rolled down my cheeks and my face was soaked. I had my nose pierced a couple times before, so I knew that my eyes would water, but I didn't think they would water that much.

Jesse put my new piercing in and gave me a tissue to wipe my eyes. I turned to my two friends, who came with me, for their approval and after I got a few positive comments I looked in the mirror. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it, but everyone else thought it looked good. Even my parents who hated the thought of me having a "bull ring" through my nose, thought it wasn't all that bad and that the size suited my face. I'm very pleased with that, because after I stretched my ears I heard nothing but nagging for a long time. However, I've gotten many compliments on my new piercing.

Now I love my septum piercing and it's healing great. I'm glad I heal nicely, unlike my older sister who doesn't even bother with piercings. I can't wait to go and get more piercings. I plan on getting double high nostrils, and then I plan on working on my ears. And maybe some day I will get a nasallang piercing.
