Being 18, and wanting my first piercing, knowing you didn't need a parent's consent, well that just felt amazing. I was always fascinated at the Septum piercing, ever since I was 14 years old, the history behind it and the overall look, captured me from that age! When my birthday came around the cornor, I decided that I wanted my first piercing to be a septum piercing, and I didn't care about the pain, because I wanted it so bad! My mom didn't like the idea, because she said, I was still in high school, and I should wait until after I graduate, but I just couldn't. I began looking at pictures on BME, and everytime I looked at pictures, I got more excited, and I wanted to get mine already. I've read a lot of people's experiences on BME, and it always comforted when they said the pain, wasn't as bad as people think it is.
At A Glance Author Taylor Contact Taylor@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Sandy Studio Liquid Tattoos & piercing Location Aiea, Hawaii The day of my 18 birthday, my cousin and I decided to go to Liquid Tattoos and Metals, near our town. I was pretty high, but by highness was coming down, because I realized what I was getting myself into. Without a scheduled appointment, I told Sandy (my piercer) that I wanted to get my septum done! Sandy said "sure" she didn't have any appointment's at that time. Sandy was a very friendly person, and came outside to have a smoke with me, she answered all my questions that I had, and in a few minutes she said she would get everything ready for my piercing. I was still a little nervous. When she finally called me in the back, I kinda didn't know what to expect, because that was my first piercing, she lead me to the back room, and I felt excited about the whole thing again, still a little high though, she gave me water, and replied "cotton mouth, huh?" she laughed and I started to feel comfortable. She cleaned my nose, which kinda felt weird, she took out a lot of bugers, and started wiping it with some alcohol, and some other stuff. She got the clamps and and told me that she was going to look for the pocket to pierce. Well, unfortunately, this was the long and a pretty painful part, I had the clamps in and out of my nose for a pretty good 20 minutes, and it started to hurt a little, she said that my pocket was too high, and was trying to find a really good spot that wouldn't be too painful. In and out, the clamps went in, and for some reason, I was begining to think that the piercing would hurt like the clamps when it was in. Sandy apologized for the delay, it was pretty occured though, the procedure included me holding a small flashlight, in one nostil while the clamps were in, and than it also involved me holding up my right nostril for her. I was strating to think that, she kinda didn't know what she was doing, but she kept apologizing and said that she was trying to find another good spot, because my pocket was high. I started getting a little frustrated because the clamps was starting to hurt. Sandy finally found the right spot, I didn't think she was unprofessional, because she worked with what she had. When she finally found the spot, she had the needle prepared, seeing it up close was pretty cool! she asked me if I was ready, and I said "yeah." I took a deep breath in and the needle went in, and it was very anticipated, the rush I had was unforgetable and it didn't hurt, but I was just tearing up. She placed a 14g barbell in my nose, and answered more of my questions. We both were very relieved! I told her that despite the delay, it went very well, she said I handled it very well, for someone that took that much clamping! haha.
When I got home, my mom was shocked, but she said she kinda thought it looked cool, I was even more shocked by that. The first couple days, my nose was kinda tender, and kinda stung whenever I accidently hit it, and it was bleeding just a little the day after. It's been a week Now, it kinda feels like I don't really have a piercing in my nose. The healing process isn't done yet, but I take good care of it, I just really have an urge to dig my nose, or blow my nose, but, I can't wait to put weird looking stuff in my nose after it heals. The reactions I get is very occured too, people keep at school keep asking me if it hurt, and they start pinching their own septums to see if it would hurt, which makes me laugh all the time. If you're planning on getting a septum piercing, and are having second doubts, those doubts need to decease at once! You won't regret it! and I highly doubt you have an experience like mine, regarding the the clamps up your nose for 20 minutes!
