I have always loved piercings and how they looked on people, but me, I wanted to make sure they looked perfect. By the time I was 16 I had my lip done twice along with gauges in my ears so I had a pretty good start. Once I decided I needed something new done but couldn't exactly put my finger on something that would actually look good on me. I made my decision by choosing a part of my face that I didn't really like which happened to be my nose. Why not put a pretty piece of jewelry there to make me feel better about the way it looked so thats where my idea came from and thats when I decided on my septum. Some were against it due to the simple fact that they didn't think it would look good on me or anyone for that matter but its my decision.

Both of my parents aren't really into the idea of their little girl being tatted up and pierced only God knows where but luckily my mother decided she wanted to share and experience with me just to see what it was like. A friend of hers owns a shop called Illustrated Lady around where I live so I figured that would be the best place to go since it was a family friend and all. My mother had asked me what I wanted done and once she asked me that I knew the septum wasn't going to fly so I told her I was going to get my eyebrow pierced. She signed the paper and starting browsing through the shop so I figured now would be the best time to do it.

While she is preoccupied I sit in the chair and say to myself, "what is my mother going to think of me when this is all over?" The simple fact that I lied to her weighed on my mind heavily but hey sometimes you have to do what you have to do. A lot of people have said that getting your septum pierce is really uncomfortable and that it could possibly bleed so thinking about that made me feel even worse. I was thinking, "what if it looks completely horrible" and "what if it never heals right." Luckily I was reassure by Brian, the man who pierced it for me. He helped me out a lot by giving me of encouragement. Another thing that scared me though was that he had mentioned that septum's are hard to pierce since you cant exactly see too well but I just had to have trust in him.

Once he told me to take that deep breath I just squeezed the arms of the chair as hard as I could and I sure did feel thaT pain, believe me. It wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been but it wasn't exactly the easiest thing to deal with that I've gotten done. The worst part was that he couldn't get the ring through one side of my nose so he had to reinsert the needle. I just about lost it. It hurt about 10 times more than the first time but at least he managed to get it through again. Once that needle went through the second time I felt the sudden urge to sneeze. So luckily I had blown my nose before going in there so once I did, nothing came flying out of my nose. I would have been mortified even though Im sure worse has happened.

After it was all done and over with I stood up and took a deep breath and started to search for my mother. Once she saw me her mouth dropped to the floor but surprisingly she said that it looked great on me. That was a big relief. She has grown to love it and now she actually accepts everything I get done. Either way I'd probably get it done anyways. It is my body. Never the less She ended up buying me a new nose ring to put in once I was able to change it. When I got home I was so excited about putting my new septum ring in. I had barely waited three days and decided that I couldn't wait any longer. I went for it but unfortunately it bled so bad that I couldn't get it in. Being as persistent as I am I tried again the next day and it looked amazing. I couldn't have been happier with the way it turned out. My decision to get my septum was definitely one of the better decisions I've made. Now a days I love the way my nose looks. Just because I have my septum done. Its actually raised my confidence and to be h onest if I had 2 noses I would get them both done.
