I know it is recommended to say don't DIY but I did and I'm not going to be a hypocrite about the matter. As I know what its like to want a piercing and seeing the only way of doing it is by yourself all I'm going to say is make sure you are as safe as you can be with the procedure and not to use ridiculous equipment.

When I first saw the septum piercing I didn't like it very much and didn't think I would ever get that part of my body pierced. Later on when my addiction for piercings grew to an extreme I started looking at other areas to pierce and I wondered to the nose section on BMEZINE and the septum piercing popped out.

I decided I would eventually get that pierced and started on a tongue project. After three in my tongue I was getting bored with that and wanted something else. I told my boyfriend that I wanted it done and he decided he'd get his done as well. I planned on going to the piercers to get this one done as I was a bit unsure about how to get the placement just right.

I had bought 14g needles of the internet and they had been sitting in my room for about a week and decided to test them out to see how well they were as I had bought them from a different person than usual. When I took it out of the pack I didn't expect to pierce anything just test it out. I started poking around my septum and found a spot that barely hurt. I decided to do it; I put the needle done in its pack and ran around cleaning everything. I got gloves and a 14g sterile horse shoe out of its pack. I was ready to go; I blew my nose and wiped it down with alcohol swabs.

I sat down felt around for the spot and started pushing the first layer was a little intense but once I had gone through that it was a piece of cake. The needle slid through like sliding a knife through an apple hardly any pain at all, and then I got to the other end. I felt the tip of the needle on the other side so I pushed and got that through then it was just the difficulty of getting the whole needle through. I pushed as hard as I could put not too hard that it would come out and stab me, it went through I was so happy I couldn't believe it.

I had two friends over at the time and they were outside having a smoke and had no idea what I was doing until they came back in a saw a long needle through my nose. I left it in for 10mins then proceeded to put the horse shoe through. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be the hardest bit was getting the needle moving.

Once the horse shoe was in I flipped it up, it was slightly crocked but my nose is a bit crocked as well and probably is due to that, I couldn't put the balls on because then it wouldn't go up. I planned on buying a proper septum thing the next day. I just hoped it didn't fall out!

I dabbed it with soaked cotton balls and ran to show my mum her first response was, "What the hell were you thinking? Don't you have enough?" She still doesn't like it but it had only been a day. She's happy I can flip it up and make it invisible to people.

I did not like the size of the bar because as I said I had not expected to pierce it so I did not have the jewelry I would have liked to use. The horse shoe was about 12mm and I could not flip it up with the balls on so I bought a new one, 14g 10mm.

When I got home from buying it I put the jug on got out sea salt and some antibacterial wash (kills 99.9% of germs=D) I let the jewelry soak in that for 15minutes then went to my room to change it. I know it's not a good idea to change the piercing so early but it really was big and even though I could flip it up it was scrapping against my nose and it was irritating.

I cleaned the piercing and the crusties off the ring I already had through and then proceeded to remove it. It hurt just a little bit but nothing unbearable, I put the smaller ring through, I liked it already. I screwed the balls on and flipped it up. I was so happy it was perfect.

I'm so happy I did this piercing, it's awesome and only the people I told knew about it today at school. I love it so if you want it done go for it just make sure you are safe no matter what way you decided to get it done, professional or not.
