I have always loved piercing/tattoos. I have had my nipples pierced, but took them out. I used to have a lot of different ear piercing (tragus, rook, etc), but took them all out. I've had a job at a bank, so that makes facial piercing difficult. I decided on a septum because I like how balanced and centered the piercing looks. It's easy to hide which is a plus because of my job. I informed my boyfriend of my choice and he was less than thrilled, but supportive. We got in the car and headed off to the piercing place to find it closed! I thought they were open later than they apparently are. I was real bummed out, but my boyfriend suggested trying some place new. I was a little nervous, but decided.. What the hell, I'LL DO IT! I am going to get it done tonight!

We drove down coast highway and I remembered a tattoo/piercing place that had been there ever since I was little. It had changed hands a few times, but I felt confident. We stepped inside and they were open for about 30 more minutes. I asked if it was too late to get a septum done, and the girl seemed kind of upset and reluctant. I said I could make an appointment if the piercer had already gone home, but she kind of rolled her eyes and stepped into the back room. I glanced over at the bright orange chair where I would be hopefully sitting soon! A guy came out named Will and introduced himself. He asked me what size I planned on. I said 12 gauge and he agreed that was a nice size for a septum. I picked out my jewelry, a 12g retainer. I also asked if I could get my second holes of my lobe pierced while I was there. He agreed and I sat down in the chair.
The disinfectant he put in my nose to clean didn't smell at all to me. He warned me before hand it would stink. He proceeded to put his fingers up my nose to feel for my sweet spot. He found it, and grabbed the clamp. This part was the most uncomfortable feeling. It was scraping against the tender lining of my nose! It didn't hurt, but it was very uncomfortable. He triple checked everything and told me to take a deep breathe in. My boyfriend made a noise and grabbed my hand when he heard the needle passing into my septum. It made the loudest crunching noise ever! Seriously, it felt like it shook the windows. Amazingly, no pain at all. VERY quickly he put the jewelry in and I felt a drip. He cleaned up the blood for me and handed me a mirror. It looked badass! He said he was shocked that I didn't feel pain or freak out at all afterwards. He told me that I was the first person he has given that piercing without such a strong reaction. He said, lets do the lobes real quick and completed those effortlessly. I paid in credit, tipped him and we left.
They suggested saline solution three times a day to clean the wound. An inexpensive saline contact solution works best the girl told me. I stopped by the store on my way home and picked some up. I decided that I should get little Dixie cups as well to help assist in cleaning.
The cleaning is so simple! I pour a little saline solution into a Dixie cup and put my nose into it. I blow bubbles in the solution for about 15 sections. With a cotton swab, I dip it into the solution and clean off any crust around the piercing hole. It's very simple and fast to do. I take a dry cotton swab to get rid of any excess moisture.
It's been about a week and I have had no pain or problem with this piercing. I AM IN LOVE WITH IT. Anyone who is wondering if they should get this piercing, JUST DO IT! You won't regret it! It's so easy to hide. I go to work everyday and no one has noticed.
I actually flipped it down for the first time the other day and a lot of people wondered how long I'd had it. I really love this piercing...my boyfriend has his reservations about the piercing, but that doesn't matter to me. I am planning to go back to that piercing place in the future because of the sucess of this piercing.
About the studio, it wasn't the cleanest I've ever seen, but by no means dirty or unsanitary. The piercing room was quite small and very public. There is a glass window around the entire room allowing anyone to look right in. It's right by the front door as well. If you don't want people to see you get pierced, I'd suggest another studio. It's pretty small and I think it was the only one there. It seems like the shop is primarily for tattooing. Overal, go there if you want fast friendly service. The prices were alright. I paid 95 for the piercings (septum and lobes) and the jewelry.
