THE FIRST DECISION

Around October 2004, I decided that I wanted to get my bridge pierced. I have gotten several piercings in a friend's kitchen. He was a piercer at South Paw, and was a personal friend of my ex and me boyfriend. So needless to say, I always went to him to get my "fix". This time I went and had gotten my nipples pierced. I had told him that I wanted my bridge done, and he said that he'd do it for me for free if I did it right then. Of course I agreed. So he prepped me, and I was extremely nervous, not to mention I had all my endorphins rushing from getting my nipples pierced. Then he clamped me, and stuck it through. I had closed my eyes, so I had apparently blocked it out and didn't feel a thing. I walked to the bathroom and examined his handy work. It looked really good. Nice and straight, no swelling, and hardly any blood at all. I gave him a hug and walked out of the apartment. With all the endorphins I was a little shaky trying to walk down the stairs, but that was it.

THE TAKE OUT

I only kept it THE FIRST TIME for 2 days. I was at my ex boyfriends house a few days later and looking at it in the mirror. And I have a terrible habit of taking my piercings out too early (which I would never recommend) so as I stood in the mirror, I decided I wanted to take it out and put a captive ring in it. Big mistake. I took it out, and it started bleeding profusely. When I tried to stick the captive ring through, it wouldn't go in. So I decided to try and stick the bar back through. No go. It was gone. I was sad. I suppose you could say that I learned my lesson then, not to change my piercings before their time.

THE SECOND DECISION

For my birthday this year (April 23, 2005) I decided that I wanted my bridge back. So after coaxing my piercer friend Roger, he decided that since he had never done a bridge before, I could go to the shop he worked at and he would do it for me for $5 dollars. Well my birthday came and went and I had lost touch with Roger. A few months later though, I got a call out of the blue from Roger. He still wanted to pierce it. So around May or June I made all the arrangements and showed up at PRICK TATTOOS.

THE PROCESS

I was nervous because of all the scar tissue. I went and sat on the piercing chair. He put on some music that would relax me. He went to auto clave the needles and the clamps. He spent the time talking to me about it and relaxing me. Then he began to mark the holes. It seems like it took at least and hour to get the holes where I wanted them. Finally some time later he clamped me and told me to breathe in and out and count to 3. Then he began counting. One....two...pierced! And it was done. He didn't make it to three. I didn't expect him to but still. I stood up and asked him how tough the scar tissue was. He said it wasn't really too bad, but it was enough for a slight push. I asked if I could see it, but he had already thrown away the needle. I examined it in the mirror and was satisfied with the results. I walked to the front counter and paid then walked out. A little shaky but with a new hole in my face, well two to be exact.

THE HEALING

I've had it for several months now, and it still gets crusty, but only on the left side. Other than that it's in pretty good condition and there is no pain or anything. I recently got a bump above one of the holes though. I thought it might be a pimple, but its not. It pusses a lot. I'm bound and determined to not take out my piercing though so hopefully it goes away. Other than that I have had virtually no problems with it. My other piercings (my nipples in particular) have had worse problems. I don't know if its my body rejecting them, or just the piercings weren't don't right or what. I really have no idea. All I can say is keep your jewelry constantly clean and pay attention to if there are weird symptoms. Ask your piercer if you have any problems and he should help you fix it before anything sever happens. ENJOY YOUR PIERCING.If done right, hopefully you will love yours as much as i love mine.
