I've wanted my nose pierced ever since I was little. I've always thought it was so pretty and it really made peoples faces beautiful. My mom is one of those parents that is totally against body modification, so even the smallest little piercing was out of the question. I thought maybe my dad would let me he said yes, but wouldn't go through with it without my mothers blessing. So I went ahead and tried to do it myself, at the time I was 13 it was the dumbest thing I ever did. I was in my bathroom with two of my best friends trying to push this dull pin into my nose, it was the most horrible pain I had ever experienced. Well I got it half way through and it started gushing blood so I flipped out because I thought I was going to bleed to death or something. So I decided to wait.

I went on vacation with my dad to Florida when we were there I saw this body piercing place at a flea-market and the urge to get my nose pierced returned. My dad told me to call my mom and ask I had to beg her to finally say yes. Well I ended up chickening out because I am deathly afraid of needles, good thing I did though because they would have pierced me with a gun. I had done no research before that and had no idea it was bad. When I returned home I thought I should research nose piercings on the internet to make sure I wanted it. When I ran across tons of people saying that piercing guns were horrible to get pierced with. I was happy I had waited to get pierced. I then asked my mom if she would take me. She said yes, but I had to pay for it, so I saved up the $45 it cost to get it done.
I didn't know where I wanted to get it done until I talked to my sister who had gotten her belly button pierced and said she recomended the shop right in my town. It took my about two weeks to finally get up the nerve to go, and when I did I brought my mom and my best friend. My best friend wanted hers pierced too so I told he before we got there that she was going first so I could make sure I wanted it. We walked in the shop and it was nice and clean, it smelled of cleaning supplies. We went up to the counter and told Mike what we wanted. He first gave us a tour of the shop to just make us comfortable being there.
After the tour we picked out the colors we wanted, then he photo copied both of our mothers id. Very professional. He then took Liana (my best friend) into the back room, within 5 minutes she came out with an awesome nose piercing. I asked her if it hurt and she said not at all. That didn't really make me feel any better since she doesn't think anything hurts at all. It was my turn I was so scared that I made my mom come with me. We went into the room and he took the fresh needle out of the package it was in and showed me the nostril screw to make sure it was the color I wanted. I confirmed it was. I asked if a nose piercing hurt, since he had one I figured he should know. He looked at me and said not at all its one of the least painful piercings but it depends on the person.
Then my mom being the rude person that she is says this place is very trashy looking (even though after the piercing she even admitted it was a nice place). He then proceeded to tell her that he agreed and him and the owner of the shop were about to open a tattoo and body piercing clinic! So that people would view body modification differently. That shut her up! He acted as if he didn't even care and went along with the piercing. He asked me if I was ready, I thought for a few moments about what I was about to do and decided yes.
He put the clamp on (which is not uncomfortable at all), I grabbed onto my moms hand. As I saw the needle coming for my face my stomach started doing flip-flops and I felt like I was about to puke. He pushed the needle in, I was in complete shock....I HADN'T FELT A THING! He put in the nostril screw I was so happy that I didn't even listen to him while he was telling me the after care instructions. Good thing he gave us a paper the told us the aftercare.
It's been about a year and I love my nostril piercing! On a scale of one to ten I would say the piercing hurts about a 1! I say if you want one go for it you won't regret it! And if you parents won't let you don't pierce anything yourself there are alot a risks with that!
