First things first I just want to take a moment to say that septum piercings are beautiful and they do not ruin peoples faces. Many people have told me this since I got it done, but I obviously don't think that this is true. They are amazingly beautiful. To me they frame your face and accentuate your beauty.

I had to write up a contract that my mom had to sign and stick to. She didn't stick to the date but luckily I finally got it done. She thought I would be ugly with it. And I wasn't allowed to get anything but, but I was ok with 16 gauge. Everyone calls me a bull now and since it's around Halloween they are thinking that's what I should be. I don't mind being called that, its pretty cool having people staring like...that's a really stupid piercing to chose. I like being different and I guess this worked.
On the day of the piercing I actually didn't know that was going to be the day. Like I had just been asking my mom for a while...then it was really out of no where. My mom was still saying she wasn't ready for it...then while my friend and I were jamming she came in and was like "ok let's go now". It took me by surprised and then I wasn't sure if I was ready. But I left eh house with her and my friend who was there to hold my hand. On the way there I was just talking about how I knew that it was going to hurt on me. My mom was saying how dumb and crazy she was being and my friend was like...you will be gorgeous. I love you Razan!
We arrived at Adrenaline around 5 after picking up some orange juice (keep my blood sugar up). When I went it I was sure that I wasn't going to go through with it and I just went and talked to the piercer. After about 40 minutes of intense thinking and telling myself to do it. I just went right in and I was so scared.
He sat me up on the take and all I did was swear. I was shaking and swearing and saying I couldn't do it. Then out of no where he put the clamps on and I sacked him. I felt so bad. I didn't actually mean too...I just lift my knee into his groin.
He then put some gel stuff on it and I held my moms hand and my friend's hand. He lined it up again with the clamps (which don't hurt at all...it's a little awkward but not for me) and told me to breathe in the pushed it through. I was breathing so heavily. It hurt so much. I like to explain it like...sticking a skewer through some meat...ripping through the layers...but when it was done I was fine. The most painful part was the needle coming out the other side. It's definitely bearable though. I wouldn't do it again...but I'm really happy that I did and I'm even happier that he got it straight the first time. He was an amazing person, he told me all I needed to know...he took all the time that I needed and answered all my questions. Plus it's a bonus that the place I went to was amazingly clean. Everything was separately packaged and the walls were white. There were no animals or things that may cause grossness.
The hardest thing for me afterwards was the sleeping. I was so paranoid that it was going to rip out while I was sleeping. Or that my cat was going to play around with it. Perhaps that I would push my face against the pillow. So for the first couple night I didn't really sleep to well.
The cleaning is simple just washing it twice a day. It kind of awkward at first but you get used to it. In the morning I soap it up and rinse. And at night I soak it in salt water for 3 minutes....and the healing is great...it didn't swell for me...the crusties are harder then I thought to get off...but I have really small nostrils so its hard to get it there and clean it all up. It doesn't seem to be a problem though. It's barely sore and it looks great. I'm telling you all that you should go ahead and do it.
I find it funny when I am walking around in the cold and my nose runs a bit. It drips off my piercing. Or I go look in the mirror and there are little puddle at the end. The runny nose doesn't affect it at all though. It stings a tiny bit...not really...more like itchy. My nose has been so incredible itchy, all the time.
