So I had wanted a new piercing for so long. I already have my lip done size 14 and my ears at 8, and I had some money and I was deciding which piercing I wanted to do next. I settled on septum because I liked the way it looked and I wanted something not so "normal" because all others have become part of the 'norm'. So of course I had to go to BME and read all the stories and after I did, I was scared out of my mind, but I wanted it anyways.

I called my local shop and asked the piercer questions about pain, requirements, price, etc. so at like 3pmish, my mom, her friend, my friend and my boyfriend all walk the 20 minute walk downtown and I tell the lady I called and I show her my ID, my mom's ID and my birth certificate and then I pay. So then two of my mom's friends show up and they come in side and are loud and then she leaves. I'm embarrassed. So lee is explaining how it's done and how to take care of it and had me sign a release form and she leaves to prepare DUN DUN DUN....
So it's like 5 minutes and she comes back and asks me to come with her and I follow. She sees my chicken shit face and tells me that I can bring one of my friends back with me and of course I choose my boyfriend. Actually, I chose him because my other friend would scream or flinch or something. My boyfriend was all calm and relaxing. Then she tells me what she's going to do and she sticks her pinkies up my nose and feels around for about 5 minutes looking for "the sweet spot". That's a point between the cartilages that is a thin piece of skin.
she finds it (oh god, oh god) and she cleans my nose with this smelly stuff that I like and changes her gloves like 400000000000 times and then she puts the receiving end in my nose and takes the needle, tells me to breath, and finds the spot with the needle and I feel slight pressure and she says its through. Then she changes her gloves and sets up the jewelry and puts that through (I got a small horse shoe). I'm thinking *those lying little fuckers* and then she shows me how to flip it up and talks to me about after care some more and then she brings me a cool glass of cold water. It was amazing and didn't hurt at all. I did feel some stinging when I hit it that night, but nothing since.
So it's officially been one and a half weeks and I clean it when I wake up and before I go to sleep. I use a bowl of warm water and some soap and I stick it in my nose and blow. It's funny, but kind of messy when all the bubbles go all over my face. Then I clean it with Bactine and I'm done. Then I do it all over at night. Sometimes I clean it in the shower instead. Its easer and better because everything's wet so I don't have to worry about a mess on my face.
WARNING: I got it done on a Thursday and I had a friend's birthday party to attend on that Saturday. So Saturday comes and there is beer and I got drunk and I was flipping it up so that when I kissed people, it didn't hurt. It did anyways. Then in the hot tub it was getting wet and I was kissing even more and that made it sore. when I kiss, I have to watch out because when you kiss someone, your noses touch and every time I kissed my boyfriend, his nose would hit mine and caused an ouch!
So I suggest you not party when you get a new piercing because there is the risk of infection and bleeding (mine hasn't once) and soreness.
Lee told me that I could do the hot water bowl thing and instead of soap, you use non-iodized sea salt. I haven't yet, but I will because its supposed to feel really nice and make it better, as in heal faster.
I love it and it adds to my sex appeal. My boyfriend said that it centers my face and I think he lied. It draws attention away from my acne. I have gotten a lot more stares from people who tend to be on the conservative side. Oh and my old history teacher used to make fun of our generations fashion trends and he would always say that someday it will be popular for people to stick boned through their noses, like straight through their septum. I can't wait to show him.
