Well, I can't say I put a whole lot of thought into getting my nostril pierced, although I did do a little research on the net. Basically I woke up one morning and thought how cute a nostril piercing would look. Too bad I didn't find BME until I started researching tongue piercings. This would have helped with some of my fears going into it.

I already had my belly button pierced when I was 18 and I swore that it would be my only piercing. Well, six years later, I got the urge to pierce my nostril. I wanted something people could see all the time. Unlike my belly button, which no one could see unless I wanted to wear belly tops all the time.

I told my husband I wanted to get my nostril pierced. He was unsure of this because he likes me to look conservative and was afraid of what people would think. Well, I convinced him by showing him some pictures that I found on the net and once he saw some, that eased some of his fears.

I decided to get it done while I was on vacation from work, which was about a month ago, just so I could give it time to heal. To be honest, I also was not sure what my employer would think of it. I needed time to get used to having my nostril pierced.

I woke up one day, it was on a Tuesday and decided this was the day to get my piercing. Once I had my mind set, I better do it, because I knew if I put it off one more day, I would not do it.

I chose A1 tattoo in Kansas City, MO. They came highly recommended. When I got to A1, I had to wait about 30 minutes because Renee the piercer, was out getting lunch. At this point, I was at my most nervous. Even though I wasn't getting a tattoo, the sound for some reason made me nervous. When she got back, she had a tongue piercing to do, but while she did that I filled out all the necessary paperwork, gave them my I.D, etc.

The tongue piercing ahead of me took only about 10 minutes, then I was ready to go back to get pierced. I'll admit, I was a little nervous because I didn't know anyone who had their nostril pierced and was unaware of the possible pain.

We go back to the room, which is very clean and sterile. They do have an autoclave, (major plus). Renee proceeded to clean the outside and inside of my nose. After that, she marked where she suggested the piercing be and I agreed. Renee then pulled out everything needed to do the piercing in front of me. Needle, jewelry, etc. All of it was new and in unopened packages. After it was all ready, she told me she would count to 3 and on 3, she would pierce me.

On 3, she stuck the needle in, and it did pinch a little, but the pain wasn't anything like I was expecting. I read that your eyes will probably water, which mine didn't, but that doesn't mean they can't. After she got the ring in, she cleaned around it with gauze, because it was bleeding slightly. The bleeding stopped after a couple of minutes.

We left the room, and I paid Renee. She gave me all the instructions and I went and bought Saline solution to clean the inside of my nose and I bought a cleaner from A1 for the outside of my nose and to clean the inside of the piercing.

The piercing didn't sting or throb which was surprising. As a matter of fact, its' never hurt at all. I'm sure no pain after a piercing isn't normal, but I didn't have any. Around the piercing it was a little red for a couple of days but Renee said that his was completely normal. Compared to a naval piercing, the nostril was relatively pain free and easy to take care of.

That night, I was on such an adrenaline rush because I went through with the nostril piercing. I will admit, I like the reaction that it gets, although some people still look at me like I am a major weirdo.

I'm very glad I got my nostril pierced. I told myself that it was my last piercing, but now I decided to get my tongue pierced. I've been doing research on BME for a couple of weeks.

As far as A1 tattoo, if anyone lives or is near the Kansas City area, I would highly recommend A1 and Renee to do your piercings. She was very professional, she calmed your fears and everything was clean and done correctly.
