Well, I've been wanting my nose pierced seriously ever since school let out. What I really wanted was my lip, but I knew that my parents would never, ever go for that. So I thought "what a great going-into-high school present." It took me all summer to convince my parents for this one. My mom was not for it, she always goes by what my step dad says. My dad was all for it. He's a tattoo maniac, so it would be odd if he was against his daughter getting a little something something . However, I finally got my moms permission. She later, even got my step dad to go for it. Today, the day of the piercing, I asked if I could get a hoop, and finally they both agreed on it. I heard hoops are easier to change and clean, so keep that in mind.

So I know it's ok with my parents, and I know I'm going to go get it done with my dad. (He has this buddy of his that has done all of his ink work, and his sister is the piercer. I've went there for my ears once before.) But I do not know when the time will come. I definitely want it to be before school starts, because well, I just did. I wanted to go in the first day having it. I guess my dad didn't know this. Because he called me about a week ago and told me that my appointment was on August 27th. I sighed and when he asked what was wrong I told him that I wanted it before school. So my dad being the awesome father he is, tried his best to get off work this weekend before school, so that he could make his daughter happy.

He made it. I was so afraid he wasn't going to. He picked me up, and worried me with news that his car was acting up, but it seemed like no big deal. We arrived at On The Edge. (note: This is not where I was originally going to go to. I live 3 hours from my dad, so he made a trip up to see me, and I told him about a place in town.) My friend just recently got her eyebrow pierced there, and recommended it to me, telling me how nice the people were, and how clean the place was. We walked up to the desk and the guy asked me what I wanted done. I told him. He had me fill out this short form, and my dad signed the bottom, since I am under age. I had to show him my birth certificate, which I had with me. My dad then paid him. He said it would be a few minutes, as the piercer was busy with another customer.

Me and my younger brother sat down and admired the place. There was paintings on the walls, and tons of tattoo pictures hanging up. I'd say it was about 30 minutes. Nothing too bad. I tried not to get all nervous. I read many stories here at BME and they all said the same thing, don't get nervous, you'll slap yourself afterwards, as it is not that painful. That's what I always try to think before getting any piercing. It really does help.

It was funny, the tattooing guy yelled out at everyone, asking them if anyone wanted a tattoo. My dad of course jumped with joy. He had this American flag and eagle type thing, and wanted to get a better outline on it. The guy had fun with him, he made it very creative, and it looked killer.

Any ways. The piercer, Chris, came up to me finally and said "are you ready?" I was like "... Me?!" Ha. He smiled and said yes. So he took me back to the room. My dad and brother followed. My dad asked Chris if he had to stay in the room, and Chris laughed and said that he only had to stay in to verify that everything Chris used was un-open and sterilized. So after that was over my dad left and me and my brother took a seat. Chris opened all the tools right in front of me. He cleaned off my nose with using a Q-tip. Now, he didn't stick the receiving tube up my nose, which I thought was weird cause that's what everyone did. But I let it go, I didn't think it was a big deal, and it wasn't. He marked a spot on my nose and made me look at it. I said just do it. He laughed and said "I know how you feel, just get it over with!" He was so friendly and made me very comfortable. He then put a bib around me and had me hold the bottom up, incase I was to bleed and it would drip, or incase anything were to fall. He then clamped my nose and at first I didn't think he was going to tell me to do the breathing thing, cause he had the needle right by me. But he did. He told me to take a deep breath in, and I did. When I exhaled, he stuck the needle though. Now, listen up. It did NOT hurt. Of course it didn't feel good, but the pain was completely bearable. Some people think the same, some think different. Everyone has different pain tolerances. Now, I don't know if it stung when he put the hoop in because he did it all together, all so fast. But I do remember when he got the needle through, I asked if he was done, and he told me he still had to put the hoop in, and I think I can remember some tiny pinch but nothing that bad at all. I then asked him a second time if he was done, and he said he had to tighten the jewelry and put the ball on. This pinched worse than the hoop going in, I think he was having some problems with it. But nothing that bad. I teared and some blood came out. He wiped the blood from my nose, and the tear on "\wT my cheek. He then went over the aftercare instructions, and that was that. I thanked him, and wanted to tip him but my dad wasn't with me and I had no money. He gave me his card, and told me in about 2-4 months, he'd change the jewelry for me if I'd like.

Clean the piercing with Antibacterial liquid soap, 2-3 times a day, is what he told me. And DON'T TOUCH IT! Unless you have the soap on your fingers. Touching it can lead to bacteria from your fingers getting into it, which will cause it to get infected. We then sat down and watched my dad get his tattoo touched up.

I just got the piercing today, so of course I can't tell you how it's been. I'm going to go clean it in a minute. Seriously, if you are thinking about getting your nose pierced, do it. It is so sweet. And to me, hoops are much better than studs. Like I said, they're easier to clean and change. And well.. they just look better! The pain it totally bearable. It is sore for about 30-45 minutes afterwards, but nothing bad at all.

For anyone living in the Bowling Green area, I highly recommend On The Edge. They are clean and friendly. They also do a great job at tattoos. This is my first facial piercing, but definitely not my last! Have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.
