I had been considering another piercing, I really wanted to get my lip pierced next, but my friend Kat also wanted her's done and made me promise to get those done together, I'd been toying with the idea of a Septum, but I heard that it hurt like a bitch. I didn't think I was getting anything pierced that day though, because I was broke.
After driving around all day looking for something cheep to do, we went home, we checked the mail, and much to my surprise there was a check from my dad for $100 dollars, the first words out of Kat's mouth were "Lets get you pierced!!" And I said okay. Kat was a little surprised at first, she asked if I was serious, and then what I wanted, we talked about lips and nostrils and septum's for a while and finally settled on a septum. I was both excited and scared, but I played it cool. And if memory serves I really wanted a cigarette to calm down, but I didn't have any.
We drove do to our favorite Tattoo parlor and walked asked how much they charged for a septum, they said $50, but the piercer want in, which kind of upset me cause Brandy did my Monroe and I wanted her to do my septum, I liked her, but we were determined to get it done today, before I lost my nerve, so we drove down the road to another shop, they didn't do piercings, we started to lose hope, we didnt want to drive to Ybor where we knew stuff was going to cost a lot more. So as a last resort we went to this place called the Hot Box, we'd both heard it was kind of sketchy, but Kat got her bellybutton don't there a few years back and she lived, and we though maybe they have changed some since then.
We walked in and asked how much they charged to do a septum, the guy behind the counter said $40, I was pleased, so I started filling out the paperwork. We had to wait a few minutes while Lenny the piercer was finishing up tagus' on like 4 softball players, he asked me why I wanted a septum and said I was to pretty for one, I said "I know I'm pretty, that's why I want one, cause I know I can pull it off". He took my money and checked my ID and all the usual stuff. By this time I was very very nervous. One of the softball players asked what we were here for I told them my septum, they asked what it was and after we explained they asked if they could watch, I said sure.
I sat on the table and tried to sike myself up, I asked Lenny if it hurt, he said oh hell yeah it hurts, it was the most painful of all the piercings he'd ever had, that didn't make me feel any better, kat just kept telling me i was a beast, and she asked if I wanted to hold her hand, I said no thanks I'll be okay. I sat and waited while Lenny washed his hands and put on gloves and got everything ready, I asked if I could have a small circular barbell, he said he pierced with retainers, which was fine with me. He didn't use a clamp, or any kind of anaesthetic ,which freaked me out at the time, but I figured what the hell. There's no turning back now
He told me to close my eyes and take a deep breath and relax then exhale I grabbed Kat's hand, then there was a needle in my nose, a sharp pain, that didn't go away, and it was through, I kept my eyes closed, the softball players clapped, and Kat told me I was a beast, I think someone told me i was a trooper, but it want over yet, Lenny took out the needle and put the receiving tube in, that hurt like a bitch, at that point I got really light headed, he put in the jewelry and I opened my eyes, but it didn't matter cause I couldn't see anything anyway, my pupils were dilating and I was about to faint, I was in quite a bit of pain still, he kept messing with it, he said it was unbending the retainer or something but it just felt like pain, I asked if it was normal for me to feel faint, he said sure, and told me to lay down, that's when I blacked out.
Kat said Lenny looked really really upset, but I was back in a few seconds, and everything was okay, I was still kind of out of it. Lenny said it was a little crooked he said he pierced it straight but when he put the receiving tube as fast as he could so he wouldn't hurt it got kind of messed up, he also said it was pretty hard to get a septum straight, I didn't really like it then, but i was still very light headed, Lenny told me to go home and give it a few days and if I didn't like it to come back and he'd take it out and give me two free piercings because it was his fault it was crooked, which i though was pretty cool
I went home and a few hours later I was able to flip it up with some pain, I didn't want any parents to see it, taking care of it was annoying, I would put a dixie cup of salt water on my nose and breath through my mouth until the water got cold then I'd pour it out. I love it now, and I don't wear it up anymore. Trying to hid it from my mom was useless anyway, she noticed there was something in my nose and told me I had a really gnarly toothpick shaped booger, that's when I showed her, she didn't care, I knew she wouldn't, I just figured she'd be mad I spend $40 dollars on it.
It's healed now, I still love it, I'd never do it again, but I to recommend it, cause it's really very cute.
