For the longest time I went back and forth trying to decide if I should get a Monroe or a septum piercing. I thought for sure I was going to end up with a Monroe but then I finally decided on the septum, pretty much just because it was the easiest thing to hide for work. I was out eating lunch between classes with my friend Adam, and we were talking about tattoos and piercing and such like usual. It was all pretty much a last minute decision, and he talked me into going to get it done that day. I did not want to go alone and my roommate was always busy with stuff so I decided I better do it now, while someone is willing to go with me.

We make it to the shop, and it took quite a while just trying to figure out which gauge and piece of jewelry I wanted. They didn't have an circular barbells small enough for my face, and I did not want anything that was going to look bad, so I ended up just going with a retainer for the time being and was going to check back later to see the new stuff they get. We went to the back room and I was so nervous, I had asked a few of my friends that already had it how bad it hurt, because I'm not very good with pain, everyone was telling me that it hurt so bad. So I'm sitting there extremely nervous and ready to look like a dweeb just because I was going to be a big baby about it. Paco was setting everything up and telling me how things were going to work I told him it would probably be better if he didn't show me the needle or anything and he laughed at me. He cleaned my nose really good and was feeling around for the "sweet spot" as he called it. He tells me that he is going to count to three and then shove the needle through. I was completely ready to experience the worse pain but when he got to three and I took a breath I just laid there waiting, and he moves his hands and I was like, "Is it finished?!" and he goes yep. I sit up and look at Adam with the needle still sticking through my nose and told him "Wow! That didn't hurt at all!!" He chuckled a little then I laid back down to have my retainer put in. Even when he pushed the retainer through I still didn't feel anything. There wasn't any bleeding and even after everything was finished it wasn't even sore. The only thing was getting use to the fact that there was something hanging out of my nose. Adam got his done after mine and his ended up hurting when it was done because he hit some cartilage and it bled a little but not too much. Even the day after I got it done, it wasn't sore. The only time it ever hurt was if I would bump i "\Ãw€ë t or catch my shirt on it when I was pulling it off of my head. Occasionally I would forget it was there and go to itch my nose and that was never fun. After we were all finished paying and saying thanks we walked back over to the school and it was fun to see everyone's reaction to both of us getting it done. Sitting in class was the last thing I wanted to do. I wanted to show it off!
I am so glad I decided on getting my septum pierced, I have bad so many people tell me that it looks really good on me and I pull it off well. I was nervous right after I got it done because I know that it can look ridiculous on some people but everyone said it looked good. I still haven't gotten a new barbell for it so the retainer is still in, but I don't think it looks bad at all. I don't want to just buy the first one I see and have it look bad because it is so big. It healed with no problems at all and pretty quickly actually. The only thing about it that bothers me sometimes is how it can smell so bad. Having a septum is nice just because if you really wanted to, all you would have to do is flip it up if you needed to go to work or something and then just flip it back down when you leave. Like I said, I'm really glad I decided on getting a septum instead of a Monroe, maybe that will be next. Either the Monroe or my chest piece. Decisions, decisions!
