Well, for the last few months I've been dying to get my Septum pierced. I dont know why I was so fascinated by it. I had been browsing through Bme, and I saw it and thought it was very pretty on certain people. However, I never thought I would go through with it. The middle part of the nose...I mean it looks so painful, and I didnt think I had the face for it. It was always on the back of my mind. A couple of weeks ago I was speaking to my friend who works at a piercing studio and he very kindly gave me advice that I would really suit nose piercings of any kind. I knew the piercing would be so "out there" and "in your face" but I still wanted it.
At A Glance Author Gee Contact gmzwc@aol.com When It just happened Artist Jacqueline Geddes Studio Glasgow Piercing Studio Location Glasgow, Scotland I read up on many of people experiences and done my research. I read many bad AND good experiences. So I had mixed feelings about it. It was my birthday a few days ago and before my birthday I decided I would get it done as a present to myself. After telling all of my friends, I didnt think it would be right to back out of it.
So the day after my birthday, my friend Amanda and I went into town. I got something to eat first as I read it was a good idea to prevent fainting etc. Walking up to Glasgow Piercing Studio, which I had done a few times before, my stomach churned with nerves. I felt like backing out, but Id wait until I was at the Studio to see if my mind changed.
When I got inside the Studio, there was no que or anything, it was pretty empty so I was taken right away. Amanda waited in the waiting room for me. Jacqueline took me through to the back where I filled out my consent form. She explained the procedure clearly and showed me the jewellery she recommended and gave me a few tips and told me of when she pierced her own Septum. I had a cup of water and she spoke lots to me, which made me feel at ease slightly more. So before I had the chance to back out, she told me to lay back on this bed/couch thing. She cleaned my nose with this smelly alcohol stuff, my nose was pretty clean she said! I watched as she took the jewellery and canula needle out of its packaging and changed her gloves several times. She was very clean and careful. I lay back down and let her feel about my nose for my "sweet spot" or "soft spot", She then showed me the clamp, which wasnt put on tightly as it wasnt needed, it was just a guide to where she was piercing. I squeezed my eyes closed tightly and kept my arms by my side. She slid the needle in and my eyes slightly watered nothing outrageous just like they do when you bang or bump your nose. It didnt feel like a needle being pushed through my nose it just felt stingy and slight pressure. It wasnt at all what I had prepared myself for. I thought it was going to be some treachorous pain, which it certainly wasnt. Once the needle was in, she told me to continue taking deep breaths for her. She then said while she was putting the jewellery, which was a 1.6mm horse-shoe shaped ring, or 14 (I think) gauge in other places, I had to hold the clamps for her, My hands were shaking and I didnt think I could hold them steady, but I did. I looked down at my nose, which I could see a needle hanging out of. It was strange. She got the jewellery in and asked me to look in the mirror. She done an awesome job. I loved it. She also said it really suited me, which was ace! I lay back down though as I wanted her to flip it up inside my nose. My parents dont really a "\Ãw€ë gree with facial piercings. So like my others, this had to be hidden to, which was done well by flipping it up. This was my new favourite piercing, if I could get my Septum done, I could get anything done! I payed Jacqueline £30 and thanked her lots. She said if I had any problems just to pop in anytime. She let me sit for a few minutes to make sure there was no dizzyness etc. The cleaning instructions were to soak twice a day with salt water solution or saline solution on the end of a cotton bud.
When I got out, Amanda looked up my nose and thought it was awesome! She couldnt wait to see it flipped down. The piercing was such an adrenaline rush and its definately my new favourite! I have quite a low pain thresh-hold so im shocked this caused barely any pain at all. Id recommend this piercing to anyone who wants something a little bit different or wants a piercing that can disappear easily! Glasgow Piercing Studio is a great piercing studio. Its small but clean and organised well. Jacqueline is a brilliant very experienced piercer. Her piercing art is great and she knows how to keep her clients at ease and calm. This was my third time at GPS and Id certainly go back..theyre very trustworthy. Cant wait to get pierced next!
