I had wanted to get my septum pierced for about a week before I actually went through with it. Well the reason I waited so long was because the shop I usually go to were being assholes and didn't want to give me the free piercing I had earned at there shop. I have had all of my piercing done at this shop and would stop in there about once a week just to talk to them, and now they didn't believe me that I had a free one. So now pissed off and wanting this piercing more then ever I turned to the Internet to look up shops in my area. Some shops were charging everywhere from 40-75 dollars and having little cash I found a shop that was having a summer sale and the septum was only $30.

This all took place on Saturday and it turned out they were closed on Sundays. So now I'm stuck waiting on something I had wanted for a couple days, and I'm not a person who likes to wait for things. Well Monday rolled around and I called them to schedule an appointment to make sure I would get it done that day. It turned out that the piercer didn't work on Mondays. Well I couldn't get it done on Tuesday because I had to work, and I couldn't wait tell Wednesday so I keep looking around for a shop who could do it and at a reasonable price.
I opened the phone book and looked a body piercing in the yellow pages and found an ad for a shop called Artrageous. I called them and they were the same price as my regular shop, which was pretty cheep. So now I was pumped and wanted to get it done. The problem was that I'm only 17 years old and I need a parent to go with me. My parents are cool and have let me get my others, but my mom doesn't care much for this one plus she was busy, so I had to wait for my dad. Well he didn't get off work until about 3 and he works in Appleton, which is about 30 miles away. So he gets home and we meet him at my house where we shoot the shit until he was ready to go. It was me and 5 other friends including my dad and my brother who wanted to go.
So we get to this shop and we walk in and I was overwhelmed with how clean this place was and how nice the staff was. I walked up to the counter and told the man that I was there to get my septum pierced. He told me that it would be another hour or so and that if I wanted to come back I was more the welcome. Not wanting to leave we stayed and looked at the tattoos they had on the walls and the portfolios that they had sitting out. Well the man behind the desk called over to me and told me it would only be about 10 more minutes. By this time I was getting nervous like I do for all of my piercings, but with this one I was expecting pain and a lot of blood. He called me over and told me that we should fill out the paperwork while they set up. Well we filled that out and the piercer came out and told me that they were ready for me. He was going to show an apprentice how to do a septum piercing because he had never seen one.
So they clean my nose and they're feeling for the thinnest part of the septum so that they could pierce it. Well after he finds it he showed the apprentice and he was ready to go. He had me lay my head back so that he could do the markings. After he commented on how symmetrical my septum was he pulled out a type of clamp I had never seen before, it was in a clamp form but the ends were like tubes, it was weird but it got the job done. He fixed it on to the part of my septum he thought was the best part to pierce, and put the needle though. I was expecting some serious blood and pain, seeing as everyone I've talked to about it said it hurt like hell and was extremely bloody. But in my case neither was there. It hurt for the split second of the needle going though and then it just felt good. There was very little blood involved and none made it out of my nose. I figure it's because he had pierced it right and missed the cartilage completely like he was suppose to.
Imp sitting here writing this and it's not sore at all and I had it done about 8 hours ago. Cleaning it hurt a tad but less then some of my other piercings had when I got them done. Having the ring there is a little weird but I'm sure it'll sink in eventually. Overall its an awesome piercing and even if you have the slightest attraction to getting this done I say go for it.
