It was a little past three and I had just finished my first GCSE and after thinking for a long time during the exam I decided to go and get my septum done as I was going to meet my girlfriend in Manchester anyway so I may as well have got it done while I was there. So I got on the train and was now incredibly hyper about getting it done. Even though I had been told how pain full the piercing was. About and hour later I arrived at Manchester I was now incredibly nervous and excited... I could barely sit still.

I had phoned Leon before to make sure he would still be open by the time I got there and luckily he was. So me and Lisa wandered down to the Studio, I was so giddy now I was just skipping around everywhere. As we got to the Studio I filled out all the forms and paid for it, only to be told I would have to wait 15mins for the rings to be sterilized. So Lisa tried to calm me down by showing me her tattoos but I couldn't actually concentrate on them I was so nervous I had to just hop around the shop.

Finally Leon was ready so he called me in, Lisa then refused to go in with me so I was left on my own. I got into the room and watched him prep all of the tools he would be using they were all sterile and clean.

There was another girl in with us who was training to be a piercer so Leon went through everything he was doing and she sat and watched which was kind of interesting actually knowing what they are going to do instead on them just pushing a need through and there you go it's done.

After having to sit with Leon's fingers up my nose for a while (was not a nice experience) he finally found the right placement and made the marks. He then 3rd time lucky got the clamps in the correct place which hurt quite a lot but was nothing compared to the actually piercing. As I was sat there with the clamps on my nose it was then he told me there would be no numbing spray used and this would probably be one of the worse pains I would ever feel, this made me feel so much better but there wasn't really much I could do apart from sit and wait.

Leon changed his gloves and prepared the jewellery and the needle. He told me to take a deep breath and he started to push the needle through and OH MY GOD it must have been one of the worse pains ever. All I could feel were my eyes watering like mad, as the needle went through I was later told that I made one of the cutest noises ever?!?. As he pushed the needle through further I could feel the blood running out my nose, by that time her was done and the needle was through. Woohoo! But then I remembered about having to pull the tube back through with the ring on the end of it. Leon removed the clamps which hurt because it pulled on the tube but it was ok, after he had attached the ring on the end of the tube he then pulled it through which did make me jump a bit, he turned the ring around and we were all done! Yay I had a pretty piercing. I went out to show Lisa who still couldn't actually believe I had gone through with it. It didn't end there though. I had been told that I would be able to hide it from my parents all I had to do was slip the ring up my nose, so we chose to leave the ball off the ring so I could.... But I couldn't, the ring was too big for my nose so I decided it would be a good idea to change it myself (how wrong I was).

We got to the station where I decided I would try and do it there, but had no luck because it was still bleeding.... All I got was a couple of people telling me it was foul and that I was ruining my body. After no luck we decided to leave it until the bleeding had stopped. After a rather interesting train journey with a lot of people staring at me we got home. So I was sat there in front of a mirror with a lot of tissues and savalon. I sterilized the smaller ring I was going to put in it and cleaned my nose with salt water to get the dried blood off from around the ring. Once everything was clean and sterile I decided I would have to do it. I slowly slid the larger ring out and followed it through with the smaller ring. Thankfully it worked, and my septum piercing was over. I can now flip the ring up my nose (sounds disgusting but it works) and my parents have no idea I have go it done.

If you can handle pain and want it done then go for it because it is such a cute little piercing... but make sure you're allowed it because it's a bitch trying to hide it, i wouldn't adivise anyone to change the ring them selves especially after only a few hours, wait and get it done properly, it is safer and overall better for the piercing.
