My first piercing I ever got was my Left nostril. Before I decided to do that one, I looked at them on this website and loved them. I begged my mom for months to take me because I was only 17, and finally she cracked. So we went to Evolution Body Piercing in Providence and met Joe. Joe had been doing piercings for years, and had quite a few himself. He was so nice, He knew exactly how to keep me relaxed. Soon enough, my left eye poured out tears and my nostril was pierced with a small pink stud(I had wanted a hoop, mom objected). This was no pain like I had expected, the tiny pinch was a good pain. I think getting my ears pierced at the mall hurt worse. It was no suprise that I fell in love with piercings. I changed it to a silver hoop after the 5 month healing time, and was truly happy. I went back to evolution when my boyfriend got his lip pierced, and Joe noticed the bead to my hoop was missing. He made time, cleaned the room, and put in a new one for free. He said he get's so sad when he loses his own, He has to help others out.

I told him his studio was the nicest, cleanest one I'd ever been in, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my face. I said "if anyone in this world is piercing my septum, it's gotta be you." He remembered me from my nostril piercing, which made me a lot more comfortable.
There was a guy before us getting a genital piercing, so we had to wait outside untill he was done. When I could go back in, I picked my ring-a 14ga circular barbell. I'm small, so I didn't want anything to big. He cleaned the room and called me in.
He had me lay on the table with my head on the slide tray where your feet would normally go. He cleaned everything, and changed his gloves about 7 times before he was ready to pierce. My friend Roxanne watched in the chair, excited. Finally, he said "you ready?" I replied with a nervous yes, and he pushed the foot tray back in, leaving my head completely hanging off the table. "am I supposed to be upside-down for this?" I asked him. He replied "of course." So I took a deep breath, and he said on the count of 3. 1....2...Pierce. I was so comfortable with him I didn't even close my eyes. This piercing felt more good to get then painful. Soon enough the 14ga needle was through my septum, and in went the circular barbell. I love it!
I loved Joe's piercing skills so much, I went back 7 months later and had my left side of my lip pierced. It was the most painful, but well worth it. I went back again, and he remembered me still. I chose a 14ga circular barbell to match the one in my septum. The ring had to be big because my lip was definately going to swell. I went in the room and sat on the end of the table.
Joe made 3 marks and told me to pick the best one, I chose the one in the middle. He cleaned the area (this time my friend caitie watched). He asked me if I wanted him to use a clamp or just freehand the piercing. I told him "you've never done me wrong, freehand it." So the 14ga needle went through. It was the most painfull just because the outside skin of your lip is thicker, and I felt quite a pinch. It was worth seconds of pain for my lip ring, because I love it soooo much! The healing time took a long time. I lived on a bottle of mouthwash a week, I wanted this one to turn out right. I plan on returning to joe for the other side of my lip within the next few months.
Overall I would say that every piercing experience is a great experience. Piercings become a part of you very quickly, and I think they are beautiful on anyone. I know that I'll return to evolution a few more times before I'm ready to move on to the tattoo phase. I think that everyone should except piercings, whether it be a job, school, an establishment. You shouldn't make anyone alter who they are because your not impressed. To all the ignorant people out there- why don't they get piercings? simple. They know that they would love it. If I could go back in time, I would want to expierience all three of my piercings over and over again. And I can't wait to welcome my next lip one to my face. Piercings are a beautiful form of self expression. To anyone else- I highly reccomend Evolution Body Piercing-cleanest place around providence, with amazing people.
