Alrighty this is my second time putting and experience here on BMEzine. My first one was about my D.I.Y. lip piercing, and now I am here writing about my septum. Here is how the dealio went down.

This one was quite the same. I had purchased some more piercing needles so that I could get my septum pierced and so that I could do my girlfriend's lip and septum so we would have matching piercings (cute huh?). Along with the the needles I purchased new clamps (since the ones I used last time I left at this person's house and didn't want to go back and get them) and some new jewelry.
One day I was just sitting around my house chatting with my girlfriend and got the urge to pierce myself and she had said she wanted me to pierce her too so I brought over all of my stuff (still sterile) over to her house. Me and her talked for a bit and she said she was too chicken to let me pierce her but that didn't discourage me from wanting her to pierce me. We didn't have anything really to mark my septum with so we tried using a pen and that was a horrible failure since it just kept rubbing away. Then I decided that we should just have her put it where I tell her and then she just pushes it through (so what I'm too chicken to do it myself, you wanna fight about it?). Then I laid down on the edge of her bed and she got the needle all ready, I had a recieveing tube for her to use so she didn't push it through my nostril but she didn't use it saying it was too much hassle. That kind of worried me a bit but not much. So then I just laid there and waited then she pushed the needle through and then before I knew it she had pulled the needle out!
That made me mad, very mad, since that is exactly what had happened to me the last time I got pierced. I was so mad when she did this I let her know just how much this pissed me off. So then after I yelled at her for a bit I grabbed the ring I was going to use (a horse shoe ring) and went into the bathroom and tried to push it through. After a few minutes of doing this I realized it would be pretty damn hard to push a threaded ring into a new, tender pierced hole. I grabbed a CBR and streched it open some so that it could fit over my septum with ease then it took some pressure and a little muscle but I got it through. As soon as I did a great feeling of relife came over me. I went over to my girlfriend and appologized to her for being mean then we cuddled.
The after care was pretty easy after it was done. I would just mix up a cup of sea salt water then would put part or a cotten ball in it then put it in my nostril and let it sit there a minute then replace it every minute or so. I did that everyday for 2 or so weeks then stopped. You are suppose to do it twice a day but once a day worked for me. The more piercings you get the more you'll get the "feel" for how your body reacts to everything. The only real complaint that I would have from all of this is having to deal with the crusties. They were really really bad and would always be on each side of the piercing everday for about 2 weeks after getting it done. If I tried to move the ring to clean it or something it would hurt like a bitch since the crustie would try and go through the hole and all. After the two weeks or so though the crusties started getting smaller and smaller then eventually stopped which was very good.
I would reccomend that if you want your septum pierced to go for it and get it done. Go about it professionally through so nothing goes wrong with yours. I was just lucky with mine. If you do happen to do it yourself make sure everything that you come in contact with that will be going on, in, or around your piercing area is sterile otherwise you could get a horrible infection and would have to take it out which would not be fun in the least.
