I had the piercing itch. Six months from my last which was my nape.

I think people feel the need for piercing and modification, there isn't real reason or purpose but the need is there. I think.
I had just taken out four lobe and my second nipple piercing out so I wanted something to replace it. Also another reason I wanted a new piercing was I have had a lot of bad news lately and I wanted something to take it away in a constructive way. I had never considered a septum piercing until recently. I didn't know a thing about them, how they were done and all that jazz, considering I've had piercings all over my body, this was one I didn't know anything at all about. I read a little on the net about it and spoke to one or two people. So one day I was in Manchester town center and I thought why not find out a little.
Sauntered off to one studio and they said they'd use a retainer. I was like yeah that would be good. Nice and hidden until it is healed. The next studio I went to I asked their opinion and they asked what jewelry I wanted and I said I didn't know and I guess a retainer. They told me to go get the jewelry and come back and they'd sterillise it. I found this peculiar as never had a studio had told me to get my own jewelry! I walked out slightly baffeled but went to the next piercing studio looking for a retainer. Now here I asked for what I wanted and they said piercing with a plastic retainer was a BAD idea as it encourages infection and all that. Bearing in mind I'd NEVER get pierced at this place, the jewelry is cheap. I took their advice and left.
There was one place left, I was reluctant to go to. Skinvasion. I had had practically every piercing I have done here but one of the piercers annoys me as he goes on about how much he hates his job. I got there and the guy Rory was serving. He is the newly trained boy, he had pierced me many times as a trainee. We talked for ages about septum piercings. He said piercing with a plastic retainer was bad and I told him that I had lots of different advice. He was as helpful as usual and said they'd probley use a curved 10mm 1.6mm bar in the piercing.
I said yep lets go for it. And guess who was piercing? Yep the annoying yet hot piercer Jez.
We went into the room and he told me to hop on to the table. He was moaning that he had to do some genital piercings and also added he doesn't get the opportunity to do many septum's especially on girls. We talked for a while and he looked at my liccle nose to see what jewelry would be best. He decided on a curved 10mm 1.6mm bar. Jez marked the entry and exit holes, very very precisely might I add. He got me to hold a folded cotton bud soaked in anesthetic on my septum which I don't think made much difference. I'm not sure whether he clamped my septum I think he just pulled the flesh down with some clamp contraption, to pierce to web of flesh. There was not much pain although it made my eyes water! He inserted the jewelry and stared at it for ages trying to get it perfect. I felt a little self conscious here I was looking at me and I didn't know what to do! He decided that a 10mm 1.6mm straight bar would sit better so he unscrewed one of the balls off and put the tube back through as he pulled the old jewelry out. This didn't hurt, then he inserted the straight bar.
It looked slightly wonky but this was due to pressure and swelling. He told me I may have to train it to sit perfect, just by holding it in a position for a length of time everyday. He explained to me that if I had ANY problems with it or I wasn't happy he'd re pierce it no problem for free. Considering he 'hates his job' Jez made this experience one I won't forget. He was so thorough and took it so seriously, some thing I didn't expect.
I came out of the room and Rory called me over to look at it and was pleased like me. He told me the usual after care routine and gave me a leaflet.
I am very pleased with my piercing although it did hurt a lot the next day and I can't pick or blow my nose!
