I had wanted to get my nostril pierced for a very long time, I got pregnant though and had to wait to get it done until after I had my son. I had other piercings, and I thought that the nostril was so pretty, and I loved how it sparkled and was small and delicate on faces.

On the day that I went for my 6 week check up, I went straight to the piercing studio to get my piercing. I had went to the same studio for my navel and tongue piercing so I was very familiar with the place. I went in, and signed all the papers, and had them make a copy of my id and pay, I then picked out the ring I wanted them to use, (I got a plain silver one wit a black ball). My best friend was wit my to get her tongue pierced so she did all the same wit me as well. They took us both back to their split rooms to get out piercings together because we were the only ones there (it was fairly late).

The piercer told me that my eye was going to water, but the actual procedure isn't that painful at all. I figured that I might be, because it was right on my face, but then I remembered how I breezed my way through my tongue piercing, so this should be cake too. The studio only used rings with their piercings, so it wasn't a option to actually get a screw or a stud for my nose (they now use screws, thank goodness). But everything was being set out, and I watched and talked to the woman that was doing my piercing. She did 3 placements on my nose then, and I picked the one in the middle, I was worried if it was too far forward that it might migrate out of my nose, so the middle one was just perfect. She then recleaned my nose, stuck a thing in my nose, so that the needle wouldn't go threw my nose, and placed the needle up against me. She counted until 3 and pushed it in. Nothing! It really didn't hurt at all, you could hear the cartilage rip in my nose, but that was it. My eyes did water, but it wasn't anything major. She then put the ring threw and attached the ball for me. It was a very VERY easy piercing. It bled a tiny bit, but it wasn't anything major at all. She told me how to clean it, and gave me a sheet on how to take care of it, and when I could change it. I bought satin soap from there, and used it every time I got a shower, that stuff really rocks, I loved it.

But I changed the ring a little too soon then I should've. I put in a nose bone a week or 2 after I got the piercing, and when the stone fell out and I went to remove it, it got stuck in my nose. I had to cut it off with wire cutters, so that wasn't very fun. I now try to buy the bend to fit studs, or if I want to get a bone stud, I will use a nail file and file off the ball on the end. My nose still seems to get a little sore every once in awhile, it got really bad right after I got it, but I think it was from using make up around the area, even though I was real careful not to have it get in contact with my piercing. I used sea salt soaks to clean the area, and I would use them every few hours, wit my first lasting for 5 minutes, and then I would use another a few hours later for about another 5 minutes. They really really helped a lot with helping to heal the area, and keep it clean. When I started a new job after graduation, I had to get a retainer for the piercing so that it wouldn't grow shut. It would get sore after I got home from work and try to put another stud in it, so I got a plastic retainer from the mall. It had a ball on the end, and the ball was pretty obvious, so I clipped it off. The actual size of the retainer was larger than the standard metal studs that I used, so that made my nose a little sore too. But since I keep the same stud in now, instead of messing with it everyday, or every weekend, I haven't had any problems with it being sore at all.

I would definitely recommend this piercing to anyone. It does take awhile to heal compared to my other piercings, and it gets sore from being on my nose, and so close to my eyes, but it's really one of my favorite piercings. Good luck!
