I went in and I was really nervous. I had been expecting a lot of fuss and paper work, but to my surprise I was sat right down. The whole thing went by so fast. He had it in a just a few seconds. He had me breathe in and when i breathed out he shoved it right in. Took no time at all. I was so surprised. And very thankful! Now, after a couple of months, my septum looks great! I recommend it to anyone who is thinking about getting one!

I had spent a couple months prior to my experience reading accounts (just like this one) and there were varied in their severity. I read accounts of people being really hurt and upset with their experience. On the other hand, i read accounts of people having no problem at all. I was hoping to be in that category. And I was! Greg (the guy who did mine) was so nice. He welcomed me in and sat me right down. I had read accounts where people we introduced to extremely rude artists and were not happy with their experience at all. Luckily, I was not disappointed with my experience.

He used a small, cotton swab to clear out all of the stuff he didn't want to touch in my nose. He joked about the things in the past he had found in people's noses. It was kind of gross. One time, he had to use multiple swabs on this one guy, because his nose was so gross. I blew my nose about 6 times on the way there in preparation. I didn't want the guy to have to give me a good nose cleaning before he started.

After he cleaned my nose, which ended up not being dirty at all, he gently patted the area around my nose and inside. Then he simply picked up the needle (which i will admit was a little intimidating), and put it to the side of my nose. He then told me to take a really deep breath. I did, and as i breathed out he shoved the needle through my nose. What a shock. It didn't really hurt. He asked me if I was okay. I told him I was still in one piece. He chuckled and said, "that's what they all say". As he turned around to get the stud I turned to my friend amy and laughed. I had a giant, tribal like, bar through my nose. It was a sight. She snapped a picture. Greg turned back around and screwed the piece onto the end of the needle which was still dangling from my nose. He pulled the needle out of my nose slowly, this was kind of painful, and pulled the stud through, to it's final resting place. He asked if I was okay again, and I said yes. I was glad that was over. He talked to me for a few minutes about after care and told me to call the studio if i had any problems. It was very reassuring. I was glad I got him. I paid him and he talked about different pieces i could get once the hole had healed up a bit. He was very polite about it. Amy and I left the studio with my new nose trophy.

That evening I started to feel the actual pain. It was a dull, sore pain in my nose. This was probably the worst part of the whole ordeal. I had to get some non-scented soap to wash it out with that evening. I was told to use a cotton swab and/or a tissue to gently brush in my nose to keep all of the junk out. The first few evenings were kind of painful. I had to cringe as I patted the inside of my sore nose. It took a couple of weeks until I could actually sit back and enjoy what I had done.

Now i'm really really happy with my septum piercing. I would recommend it to anyone. It looks great and heals relatively fast. I have nothing but goods things to say about Greg and my experience. If your in the Boston area I highly recommend that studio. They do a great job for a reasonable price. It's been almost 6 months now, and I don't plan on taking it out anytime soon. I just changed it from the stud a few weeks ago. I wanted to wait long enough for it to heal right. I think it looks great.

The only bad part: My parents really don't think it looks all that wonderful. You should have seen the look on my grandma's face! I explain the process to them and they thought i was a complete nut job. Heh. That doesn't matter though, I'm glad with it, and I told them the same thing. They're totally used to it now. And apart from the constant jokes from my grandfather, no one really says anything about it.

Once again, I highly recommend the septum piercing to anyone who is interested in. Nothing but good things!
