I have wanted a piercing for as long as I can remember. There are a lot of things I want pierced. It was really hard for me to decide what to get done first. Originally I was going to go with my nipples, or my tragus, or even my navel, but I didn't want a navel piercing until I could find somebody who could do a surface piercing as well because I want a regular navel piercing and a surface piercing under my navel, but I decided to go with my nostril. For my 18th birthday I got inked up, but I waited for a month and a half until I got my nostril pierced, but I didn't have the initiative to do until I was at a football game. It was the Texas Tech (my school) vs. Texas Christian University game, and we were down in the first quarter by 21 points, so I said, if Tech wins, I will get my nostril pierced. Well, after 4 hours in the sun, we won, and it was final, I was getting my nose pierced. So we (my boyfriend and I) hung out with a few people for a while and then around 11:00pm we picked up some other people and went to Big Buddha's in Lubbock, TX.

One of them was a nostril and the girl came out with her face bright red and she was crying. That scared me a little, but I can handle pain, and I am inked, and it can't be any worse than getting a tattoo, so I went ahead with it. The artist and I went through the formalities and then I was ready. I sat down in the chair and I wasn't really that nervous, at least not nervous like I was when I got my two tattoos. She did the prep work and my friends were in there and she placed the mark on my right nostril to mark where it was going to go. Then I checked in the mirror and with my boyfriend and we both liked where it was so I sat back down. I took my glasses off and then she put the clamps on my nostril and that was really uncomfortable. I was sunburned too, which probably made it a little bit worse, I wouldn't know.
She clamped down, and then she took the needle to me. She asked me if I wanted her to tell me when she was going to do it or not, and I kept changing my mind, but I finally decided to have her tell me. She had me closed my eyes and breathe a little. And then she counted, 1....2....3....and through it goes. It hurt a little, but not as bad as I thought it would. I think I was thinking more about the sun burn I had gotten earlier that day, which was very painful. I flinched a little bit in retrospect, but not enough to mess her up. She then told me that she was going to put the jewelry in, which was the most uncomfortable thing about the whole experience, it kinda of pulled at my nostril and I really did not like the way that felt but it didn't hurt, it was just not pleasant. . It was over, but I was bleeding, it was running down my nose, and I wiped that up, and stopped bleeding a little bit. Then the crew jumped in the batmobile and off we were to the 24-hour drug store. I found Bactine, soap, and after a while of searching, I found some Q-tips. I also bought this cute tiger thing that you can lay on, but that's beside the point. We then all burned a couple in the parking lot and we went back to campus. I went up to my room a cleaned up all of the dry blood and now I am in my boyfriend's room typing this up, because I have nothing else to do. That sucks.
Okay, it has been a few days, and it is really kind of strange having something metal inside my nose all of the time. It is hard to blow my nose, and that is not cool because I am starting to get a cold or something that makes my nose run. I have been cleaning it with Bactine three times a day and then cleaning it with antibacterial soap once a day. That is what the shop told me to do. My skin is peeling around the piercing, but it is peeling all over my face anyway, so it doesn't make a difference. But anyway, tune in next month after the next home tech game because if we win, and we will, I will be writing about my nipples. And everybody wants to hear that story.
