Ever since I first started seeing people with piercings I loved them. Yet, I liked Septum piercings the best, I'm not sure why but I just fell in love with them. Well, having really strict parental units, and strict school rules, I never got the chance to actually obtain any piercings (at least facial. I had previously pierced my belly button myself and hide it for quite some time which i don't advise at all). However, I finally won and got one.

I hounded them for many days and had very good reasons why they should take me to get one. But I left out the type of piercing that I wanted so they wouldn't freak and automatically say no. Well, they finally relented and agreed to take me. I was soooo happy. They then asked me what I wanted to get pierced and so I told them. They tried very hard to talk me out of it at that point, saying that I should go with something more girly. My now ex-boyfriend tried to scare me out of it by saying it hurt like hell and that I couldn't handle having I done (obviously he thought I was a pussy or something) but like most I read about it and decided it would hurt like hell but that I would just put up with it. Well, I didn't let them persuade me because I loved septum piercings the most.
My parents finally took me to get it done, and I was scared shitless, because I expected the worst. Well, me and my mom go it and tell the piercer what I wanted and he handed my mom the paperwork and asked me what size I wanted in it. I chose a 14gauge horseshoe (while my mom protested about it being too big).
Well, he took us to the back and sat me in the chair. He then began gathering up all the equipment needed and commenced to tell me how this was a painful place for many to get pierced, and how it is a longer piercing process than other facial piercings (which just added to the anxiety I was feeling) and how good he thinks it will look on me. My mom was watching and noted that I looked paler than usual. Well, the piercer cleans my nose and then commences to shove his fingers in my nose trying to find the spot, (odd enough but noted as a necessity). He then places the dots on the spot he was to pierce, and grabs the clamps and positions these on the exact spot. He looks at the positioning for several minutes making sure it was exactly straight before he thinks of beginning. (note: This is a good sign with a great piercer!!!) The other guy working there asked me if I wanted him to hold my hand...I guess I looked that scared, but he was cute so I let him.
Well, he puts the needle to my nose, and asks me if I was ready, I told him I was as ready as I ever would be. He told me that he had to pause in the middle and then finish up, because he had to maneuver the needle a special way. So I'm like ok. So I feel a small pressure inside my nose where he paused but then nothing. He told me he was done, just like that. Well, he commented that I didn't bleed like was normal but that it was ok and how smooth things went.
The only trouble I had was when he pulled the clamps off it got hung on the cork on the needle because I twitched...but even that didn't hurt that much. When he changed the needle to the horseshoe I didn't even feel it. He went through the cleaning steps and all that. My mom was surprised at how smooth it went and that my eyes didn't even water or nothing.
We paid the guy and left. It really didn't hurt alot afterwards, just the usual bit of pain, however it was slightly swollen for a couple of weeks. But it healed up nicely.
Ever since I have loved it...except for when my nose is runny and it gets in my way. Since then I haven't been able to stop getting pierced, I currently have my lip done and my navel and am thinking of what to get done next.
However, it is a very unusual piercing and I often get the odd stare every now and then and comments like "did it hurt" and I just answer no. If any one is looking to get their septum done, go for it. I was scared to death and for nothing. There are many people who say it hurt really bad but I didn't think it hurt at all!!
I still can't decide what to get pierced next though....so if anyone has any ideas of anymore unusual piercings just let me know.
