Well this is my first experience I have written, but I know it won't be the last. So lets start with this, I am a pain junkie. Always have been and always will be.

The original plan was to be at a 4-gauge in the end, but made a dramatic mistake on my part in the beginning by going to a shop who offered all piercings for 20 bucks.
I started with a 12-gauge but didn't like the way it hung "so lets jump up a bit on my own" I thought to myself, In went a 10-gauge circular barbell. Not too bad what was I worried about?
Lets jump ahead to the day I decided to go to a bigger size. I went into Body Matrix in Bemidji, minnesota on a Wednesday and see what kind of damage we can do! Well my first attempt was shot to hell when I walked in and the owner told me that the piercer Paul wasn't in. I thought this is a sign, but was determined to get it done.
I left and decided to try another shop in town that I never had gone to and heard things about, not a good idea!
When I went in the piercer was eating lunch and when I asked him if we could do it, he said yeah and proceeded to pull out a scalpel and said its the only way he knew how to do it. I said "your out of your fricking mind if u think I'm letting u near me with that!" I left real fast, not to say I didn't consider it after I left saying "what about a 2-gauge right now?"
Well I decided to wait for Paul to be back in town and get it done. Friday came around and I was there first thing in the morning, but they didn't open until 10 a.m. I decided to get something to eat so I wouldn't freak out and pass out during the stretching. Well I got caught up in playing a video game at a friend's house, next thing I knew it was almost 3.
I arrived at the shop around 3:15 and went in. I told Paul what I wanted and he said I was crazy. Well his actual words were "are you fucking crazy?" I'm not crazy just a little unwell. He told me it would be a few minutes for him to set up and get the plug I wanted put in ready. I decided to go with a 6 gauge stainless steel plug so I wouldn't pull on the ring too much. I have a bad habit of playing with my jewelry if it's hanging.
Back to the matter at hand. I sat down and flipped through the tattoo flash books for a bit. The owner came over and asked me what I was having done, since she was in the back while we picked out the jewelry. The look of horror as she grabbed her nose was priceless.
Paul came out and told me to follow him into the room. This was the cleanest place I have ever seen. The walls were painted a real light tan with white counters all around. I was told to sit down in the chair so I would be comfortable. He went over how we would be doing this and I said, "Lets knock this sucker out!"
He cleaned up my septum and looked inside. He told me when I had it done that she had gotten some of the cartilage in it, and to prepare because this might sting a bit. I am not afraid of pain; in fact I actually like it. I was not going to back out, since this was a dream of mine.
He got the taper lined up and told me to take a few deep breaths and on the third he was going to do it. I took one, then two, then stopped breathing because I knew it was coming. Third breathe and "FUCK!!" I yelled so loud Paul jumped and almost shoved the taper all the way through. He asked me if I was ok and to let him know if I was going to pass out. After catching my breath I told him to put the plug in. I was a proud new owner of a 6-gauge septum! To this day I will never forget how it felt. I tipped and went out to the front desk and decided that the 4 gauges would wait for a while.
I wear the plug around my family because they always say things like "you look like a bull" or "That's gross". Since having this done my plug has fallen out 2 times, and the last time I had to stretch it up by myself Because Paul is no longer around.
When asked why I did it so fast, I guess I am like other people who can't wait, Lets make it bigger now! Not smart but what the hell, Right? I love it, besides the pain was just a bonus.
Would I recommend others to do it? I would be lying if I said no.
If you decide to stretch make sure you first get it pierced right and let it heal before attempting it.
