When It just happened

I've been thinking about getting my septum done for awhile now. I hadn't always been fond of this piercing, but for some reason, it struck me, and I wanted one. This is usually what happens to me, it's happened with all of my previous piercings also. But there's always the chance that it will turn out horrible, like some of the one's that I've seen, which made me even more nervous to get it done. But yesterday was the first day off of my antibiotics, so I figured now's the best time, if any, to get it done.

So it was off to the studio. I chose Chrome Gardens to get it done at. Their the most professional people around here. I've been to others, and nothing compares to them. When you walk in there, their always friendly to you. And they know what their doing unlike some other studios around here, haha. When I got there, I found out that Linda, the piercer, just went out to dinner, so I had around an hour to waste. During this time, the fear really set in. I'm the type of person that gets very nervous when it comes to piercings. Even when I want something done very badly, there's always a time where I let the adrenaline take over, and make me try to chicken out. But any ways...

So it was time to go back. I got there, they handed me the usual paperwork. After awhile, Linda came out, and helped me pick out a piece of jewelry. We decided on at 14G circular barbell. I was lucky that it fit, because I don't think they had anything else. And I didn't really want a retainer in. After that it was off to the back room.

Linda called me back into the room and preceded to tell me that she was going to stick her fingers up my nose and fool around for awhile. It was very awkward. I don't think I've ever had anybody stick their fingers up my nose before. It took her awhile to feel around. My nose had previously been bitten off by a dog, so she wasn't sure what she should use to do it because my nose is some what deformed. She found the 'sweet spot' and said that their was a lot of room to do it, because they hadn't put the cartilage back when they sewed my nose back on. So that relieved me a little. She did a good job at just talking to me, it helped me calm down a bit, and I wasn't as nervous as I was previously. She also told me that she wanted to get it done too, but she was too chicken too, haha, that scared me a bit. But it's all good. After that, she stuck something up my nose, and preceded to poke at it, to try to line it up to get it straight. After that she marked my nose. In my reading s on here, nobody really went into that, so I didn't know what to expect. But turns out, they mark the outside of your nose, not the inside. Like the middle part of your nose, yups, it was weird. After that it was time to lay down on the table.

Previously with my other piercings, I never laid down to get them done. So this was a bit odd to me. She decided that she felt more comfortable doing it free handed, which I was alright with because I've heard about the clamps hurting so much. Before she did it she asked me if I trusted her doing it like that, of course I said yes. So it was time to do it. She held the needle up to my septum, I could feel the needle poking in. Then all of the sudden *BAM* she tells me to take a deep breath, and the needle goes through. Alright, so it wasn't that horrible. I mean I was in pain, but it wasn't unbearable. And my eyes watered a bit. Then she slipped the jewelry through. Wow, did that hurt. At that time, I was wishing I had gotten the retainer because the threads hurt so much going through. She then said that she wasn't sure how it came out, until I sat up. So she preceded to help me up, and I could just tell by the look on her face, that it didn't work. She told me that it was c rooked because of the tip of my nose being weird, and it made her mess up because it got in the way. She said that she wouldn't be satisfied if she left me walk out of the room like that. So she preceded to lay me back down. I was kind of in shock, because I was so scared that this would happen to me, and it did. I think she could tell, because she asked if I was alright. The then took the jewelry out. And boy did that hurt. I could feel each and every thread coming out. She warned me that their would be some bleeding and stuff, and preceded to get the stuff ready again.

Now here comes the second time. This time, she used clamps. And boy, did they hurt. Especially after it was just previously done, so that made the pain even worse. But luckily she didn't leave too much time in between, so I didn't even really have time to come to my senses and realize what's going on. But by the time the clamps hit, I did. But by then it was too late. So she gets the clamps on, and shoves the needle through yet again. It was much more painful this time, considering my nose had already been poked at, and my eyes watered way more than the first time. She quickly shoves the jewelry through, and tells me to just lay there. After awhile, she sat me up, and cleaned me up, and looked at it, and said that it was perfect! That was such a relief to me. She asked me if I wanted to put the balls on, or if I wanted to just wait awhile to do it. I decided to keep them off, since I work today and all. And she said that was a good idea. She also told me that it looked reall y good on me, and told me to come back and remind her to take a picture so that she can put it in the book. That surprised me, I've never been put into the book. It made me happy, and made it seem like all of that pain was worth it.

All in all, the experience wasn't so bad. I had a good piercer, which made the whole process a lot better. To compare this to my other piercings, it hurt about as badly as my nose did. But then again, my nose was done horribly at another studio, so that could be why. If your thinking about getting yours done, just do it. It's worth the pain. And today, which is the next day, it doesn't even hurt that bad. There's a little bit of pain, but that's nothing compared to the feeling of having a brick thrown at my face, which is what it felt like after it was done. The only thing that I've noticed that is hard to do, is kiss. You have to be careful that your noses don't bump, and it can be a pain, but other than that, it's great! And if your in the Gettysburg area, definitely check out Chrome Gardens. Their awesome in there.
