Pay day is one of the happiest days of my week. Pay day means money. Money means piercings. So, the following account is of what happened on this very pay day, when the opportunity for a new piercing was just too tempting to ignore.

I have always loved the way they look. To me, they are very pleasing to the eye. I have been in the mood for a new piercing lately, and I only worked a short shift today, so I thought today would be the best time as any to go see my dear Smitty at Big Brain.
So, I had to work from 9am to 1pm today. I was up at 7:45, got dressed, sat around, and made it to work with 10 minutes to spare. So, I'm thinking, sweet! I'm early even! We start rolling and get all the prep and all the rolling done before noon. Now, this is an accomplishment for us. We are usually lazy at my place of employment. But, I took this as a sign that today was going to be an awesome day.
I finished everything right at 1:00, my friend showed up, and we went to her house. I took a shower, got all dressed and shoed and everything, and we had to go cash my check. So to the bank! We stopped and filled the gas tank, then picked up my friend Tony, and since my friends mom and sister were meeting us at Big Brain (yes, they all came just to watch), we headed over to Omaha.
We pulled up in front of the shop, and my tummy started to flutter. Now, normally, the butterflys don't bother me. But, I have heard septum horror stories. I was still determind to have it done, but the fluttery tummy was getting to me. We made out way in to the shop, and looked at the jewelry cases for a while. I went up and talked to the guy at the counter, whos name i can never remember and feel horrid about it, and we talked about what i was getting done, and how he said it would be cuter with a circular barbell than with a retainer. We talked for a little while longer, untill Smitty came out, said hello and found out what I was getting done. He got a 16g CBB and told me to come on back, with my entourage.
We walked back in to that familiar room with my dear dentist-esque chair. I sat down and we started talking about all kinds of things. He got the little claps out that and got the needle and jewelry ready. We just sat and talked while he put the clamps on, then while we were talking, he slid the needle through. I didn't really feel it when the needle went through. All i felt was my eyes tear up, and i started blinking. My nose didn't feel any different. He slid the needle all the way over, then pushed the jewelry through. I did, however, feel that. The threads didn't feel all that nice going in after the nice smooth needle.
Before I knew it, he had the jewelry in, the ball on, and was telling me it was all done. I blinked, wiped away a few teary spots and imediatly started sniffling. He looked at me and smiled, and told me I did awesome. He handed me the mirror, and I fell in love. He asked me what I thought, and I couldn't say enough. My friends were all amazed. "See??? She NEVER EVEN MOVED! She's got to be some kind of freak or something", was the reply from one of my cohorts. Smitty told me my front teeth might be a little sore tomorrow, but it should be smooth sailing after that.
We walked up to the counter, I paid him and thanked him over and over. We talked for a little while longer, him telling me i didn't need to tip him, about ordering some jewelry, all kinds of stuff. Then we said goodbye and made our way back to the car.
So, it seems my feeling about today being amazing followed through. After seeing Smitty, we went to pick up a video game, and i ended up getting this totally cute pink watch and a bad ass kitty snow hat. Granted, it's been in the 70's, but, I mean, snow hats are ALWAYS a good thing.
I know I say this in every experience, but to anyone in the Omaha area, I totally recommend Big Brain Productions and everyone who works there. They are the nicest people and do amazing work. And, Smitty makes a septum seem so amazingly easy :)
