It all started over a year ago when I saw a girl with a septum piercing. She was good looking and all and this was the first time I've really looked closely at the septum piercing. To me the septum is more of a statement saying that you are not like everyone else. That you do not fit in with what is considered normal. Now over the next year I've looked at many more photos and read some stories on BME. I knew I wanted it, but I was worried that my job wouldn't except it. Up to this point they have excepted my other piercings and blue hair with some resistance. I am such an unprofessional office worker. Now my job sucks and I do not care for it, but with how the economy is I did not want to loose it.

In the past SSS had not done the best with my body. So I decided I was going to get a titanium CBR. After talking with a local girl I figured out the gauge and size I wanted. I ordered a 14 gauge one-half inch titanium blue CBR and had it within two weeks.
Around this time I came down with a cold. I live in Wisconsin and winter was here. It was cold out, and not owning a jacket (by choice) didn't help. A few months went buy and I thought I was doing good enough to get it done.
I stopped at the local piercer one day to get it done along with my tongue web. Unfortunately I found out she didn't do either of them. I was bummed about this and thought that I have out grown her services. I called around to a few other shops that night and none of them had a piercer in that day. Well, now I was really bummed. I decided I might as well wait till Saturday when I was going to Flesh Chamber to get my staples done.
That Saturday came and on our way down I was contemplating on what piercing I should get done. I really wanted my tongue web done and I was still worried about the whole septum and work issue. I had to choose only one of them due to lack of funds that day.
When I arrived at Flesh Chamber I talked to Damien a little and decided that I should go with the septum. He told me it shouldn't be to bad and that I should be warned that it may look crocked at first. He said this was a normal thing that went away when it was healed, but some people didn't like. Well, I got my staples done (experience on BME) and got ready for my septum. I was a still worried that this one was going to hurt more than the staples. My nose seems to be a sensitive area. I've bumped it and it just seemed really painful in the past.Damien felt inside my nose with his pink gloves and tells me that I have the perfect nose for this piercing. He said that I had a nice spot where the cartilage stopped.
While he was getting ready I noticed a tool that looked like a pair of forceps with a receiving tube on each side. This looked cool and was the first time I've seen this tool. He might have told me the name, but I don't remember. He put a rubber band around the end to keep it taught and he tested it out on his finger a few times getting the tension just right. He had told me that some people think this was the most painful part. He slides it in my nose and it clamps down. I told him it didn't hurt at all. Now I was a little worried here. We were ready to do the piercing.
Next thing I know I feel a little movement. I thought maybe he re-adjusted the forceps. So I asked him when he's going to pierce me. Well, he already had. I was shocked that I didn't feel any pain at all. I was at least expecting to feel the tip's initial puncture, but nothing at all. He inserted the CBR and connected the ball. I got up looked in the mirror and loved it. He told me that it looked straight and I didn't have the problem that others had. He then grabbed his camera and took a photo of it. Seems like I could have a section in his portfolio soon.
On the way home I could really notice it. It wasn't a hurting feeling, but more of a weight. Eating an ice cream cone was a little different too.
Over the next few days is when the only pain has come. When it gets a small build up on it, boy do you notice it. So every few hours I clean it off with warm water and a Q-tip. Unfortunately my cold came back so this may be a reason for the build up. Its weird because it feels like I have a big bogger in my nose at all times. When I move it, it pulls a hair some times. That's a tear jerker for sure.
Well Monday came around and people started noticing it. I don't think it affected them too much due to my staples freaking them out. I did receive many jokes about it. Such as "We put them in our pigs noses so they would stop digging in the ground", and the common cow reference. My boss said he was thinking of hooking a chain up to it and attaching it to my desk, that way I'd be at it more. Tuesday a supervisor who is in 4H was telling some one how its not painful, and the methods he uses on his cattle. I thought that was hilarious. Later that day my mom called and she hates it. She thinks I'm destroying my body.
So we are up to present day and I'm loving it. I don't care what others think, I'm going to do what I want to do! And I love it! I'll change the cbr to some sort of curved barbell in a month or so.
