So I hear if you push your parents hard enough the will eventually give in!? Well, all my friends had done it with ease...so I decided that maybe it would work for me! I was 17 at the time so my mom was my only hope. At first it was the tongue. I begged, pleaded, threw fits, you know the usual. But my mom wasn't having it. So I decided to go with smaller things first.

When I was 15 I asked for my cartilage. She said no, fortunately, back then was the ear of letting your friends pierce things for you or pierce things yourself. So I decided to do it myself. I used a thumbtack. And everything was fine; it didn't hurt either except the next day when it got ripped out. But I was fine. At the age of 16 I begged for the belly button. My mom agreed to let me get it for my birthday. Everything went well with that one to. I got it done at this weird studio in Sacramento. Well not much a studio, more like a British clothing store with a little piercing room in the back. It was kind of sketch and so I made the guy show me his piercing license. It looked all legit and so I went on with it. It turned out fine. Then at 17 I decided I wanted my nose. Little did I now that this was about to be the most troublesome piercing of all.

My cousin Kristen and I decided to go get our noses done together. My mom was of course hesitant at first but I kind of pushed her into it. We went to this awesome studio in Oregon. I picked out my jewelry and decided my cousin had to go first. The procedure went well, no harm done right? Until it was my turn, I sat up on the chair and got all cleaned up. Ben marked the spot, and then began to pierce. The needle wasn't going through. "Wow you have a tough nose," he said as he jammed it through. UMM OUCH! It hurt really badly. But once it was done I was happy. He took our pictures for his book he was making and sent us on our way.

My nose was good for about 3 months. And then this really nasty bubble started to form. I didn't know what it was from because of course I took really good care of my nose. I continued to use the warm salt water (which I loath) but it wasn't going away. It was like skin, but looked like a blister. I tried to pop it, but that only made it worse. I tried to smother it with "advanced healing" band-aids, and it stared to work at first, but failed shortly after.

I went back to the piercing studio and asked what I should do. They told me, of course, to keep using the salt water. But I wasn't working so I asked is there anything else? The lady told me no but not to use bactine or Neosporin. So what did I do? Went out and bought both of those products. I figured that doing what she told me to do wasn't working so id try to do what I wasn't supposed to do. By now you are probably thinking "wow this girl is really dumb" but the bubble was so gross id try anything to get it off.

Since then 2 of my close friends have gotten their noses pierced. My friend Tara's nose started to get a bubble just like mine (I hear that it happens to a lot of people, and that its from getting chemicals into the hole, like face wash for example.) Well now I know the solution. Bactine twice a day, and then put Neosporin on it during the night before going to bed. THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT I HAVE FOUND THAT WORKS! If you are like I was, and got a bubble on your nose, take my advice. I have tried everything you can imagine from putting crushed aspirin on it (I heard it got rid of cartilage bumps/bubbles on your ears) to trying to scrape it off. And TRUST ME it's the only thing that worked. I know how annoying and disgusting the bubble is, please save yourself from the pain and humiliation. USE THE BACTINE AND NEOSPORIN!

Since then I have gotten my rook done. Whoever thought of that is a genius! It's so cute! I'm the only girl that has one at my school of 2,400 people! I like to be different. If you don't know what that is, its hard to explain. But it's a spot on your ear, very exotic looking. This Saturday I'm going to get a tattoo. It will be of a faerie. I got a picture of a painting online, then took it into Photoshop and fixed it up so I could print it out and take it to the studio. Ill have pictures of my rook and my tattoo up as soon as I can. I'm also going to get my tongue pierced soon (since I don't need my mommy anymore!) I can't wait for that one.

It seems to me that when your parents are so against body modification, as soon as you get one, your hooked and you have to get more. I might get my labret, or Monroe as well. There are so many things I want to get and its great because I NEVER feel a thing. I have a high tolerance for pain. And I love that.

Note: Many people find that bactine and neosporing actually cause more problems than they solve.
