Well, I decided one night to get my septum done. I work as a corporate whore doing advertising so this limited me as to what I could get done. I decided that a septum piercing I can hide easily, but yet is a cool piercing. I played around with the idea of getting it done even though I had heard it was one of the more painful piercings. I looked around on the internet as to what it felt like to get down and read some other articles here about the pain and what the likely hood of getting an infection would be. After doing some research I figured well why not. I had always been pretty fascinated by piercing and the whole body mod culture and I wanted to be a part of that. So I just went to get it done grabbed a friend who loaned me some cash, jumped into the car, went down to the parlour. I already had a retainer for my nose so I just got it Pierced with that. I sat down in the chair, chatted with the artist for a bit. I asked him how bad it hurt and he said "its just a little prick" so I figured alright I guess I'm ready to go. I was still a bit nervous cause the only piercing I had ever had done were the 7 earrings I had two of them being stretched.

Then he cleaned up the area, by this time I'm thinking, Do really want to do this?, Well he clamped down and I figured to late now. So he grabbed the needle and got ready, he started to push it through and POP! His hand slipped and he clamped the clamp down as far as it could go. That more than anything was a really creepy sound kind a freaked me out. But then it was all said and done. My eyes had watered simply from being that my nose had just had a whole poked through it. Kind a like taking a nose hair and ripping it out for some reason it makes your eyes water. The pain of the piercing was definitely tollerable. So I wiped my eyes and said that wasn't too bad at all. He looked at me and said "good cause I lied it hurts pretty bad" Both people in the parlour had pretty large septum piercings, so I figured they would know what the pain was like.
Well, The piercing part was over and I went home with my new piercing, and very proud of it I was. Until the next day that is,
I woke up and felt like my face had taken a pounding. It was kind a like that sinus pressure, but like 50 times worse. So for like two days it hurt like hell. It was really sensitive, my face just hurt. A couple days later it was fine though, and life went on or so I thought. A couple weeks later I noticed that the pain had started to increase, if I bumped or nudged it I was almost in tears it hurt so bad. So I set up an appointment and went back into the parlour to have it looked at they said the retainer that I got my nose pierced with was to small and it didn't allow enough room for swelling. So I found a bigger retainer that would allow for the room and it had a flat piece that went through my nose rather that a curved piece so it was a little more comfortable. So I sat in the chair again and they took a look at my nose and gave me some soap that wasn't too harsh on piercings and Sent me on my way.
Well, the pain never really stopped it just started to get worse and worse. So I figured well we'll wait and see what happens over the next month or so. Well, recently I just started dating this girl, and well she isn't the most graceful person in the world and she would tend to hit me in the nose or whatnot. So I figured man I'm just going to take it out cause this sucks, being hit in the nose constantly suck especially when its sore. Well, I started to clean it with this soap the parlour gave me, and it's been feeling pretty good since then, I just got a new CBR to put in it. Looks pretty good for only being a 14 gauge. In the future I want to get it stretched to an 8 gauge eventually, but I'm going to wait till the pain dies down a bit. So anyone who wants to know a septum piercing is definitely worth the pain. I like mine and hopefully it stay feeling good so I can keep it around.
