I had never thought I would be getting my nostril pierced for my seventeenth birthday. My mom had been discussing it with me for several months and she always thought that a small stud on my nose would look darling. I always agreed and some of my friends told me I had the most adorable nose for it. Not many people have them at my school, so when and if I decided to do it, I would be one of a hand full. Well it was January and my birthday, Valentine's Day, was rolling around. When I asked my mom for a new cell phone for my birthday, she told me that I didn't need one but if I wanted to get my nose pierced like we had been talking about, she would pay for that and buy me a white gold nose screw with a diamond. I never had expected that she would actually approve of me going through with this so I was surprised. I didn't really know what else to ask for, so I said "sure let's do it!" I was still a little skeptical that my mom was agreeing to this, but the day before I was going to leave to my cabin for my birthday celebration she told me that she would take me to the studio the Monday when I got back. I went to my cabin. It seemed like the days flew by and suddenly it was Monday. I decided to go to the studio that I got my belly button done. They were very clean, even though that didn't work out as well as I had planned, but that is another story. Also, they took walk ins and I was too nervous that if I had to make an appointment, I would chicken out. So I called up two of my closest friends and we headed down to the studio to meet my mom.

When we got there I almost burst out laughing because she had brought a friend from work to giver HER moral support!! Even though we were having fun looking up at the dozens of tattoos up on the wall, the time came to fill out the paperwork and do all of that technical stuff. After I was finished they called me into the back room. There were so many people there for me that I figured there was no turning back now. When I walked inside with my huge group of supporters the small room was pretty cramped but all i could do was stare at the sterilized jewelry laying on the counter. Soon that would be in my nose! It was soo weird! Christina then took out the sterilized needle and told me that it was a one-use needle so I could be sure that it was clean. She then explained the whole process to me as I sat in the weird dentist looking chair. She asked me if I wanted her to count to three and I said "Yes!" I then closed my eyes and clenched the chair, even though I had broug ht two friends to hold my two hands. When I heard "three," I felt a sharp pressure go into my nose. It seemed like it took her a long time to get the needle though, and as for pain, I considered it to be there but not a considerable amount. I kept saying "ow, ow ow ow," until it was over. Finally it was and I got to look in the mirror and I instantly loved it! Even when the tiny bit of blood oozed and created a ring around the little sparkly stud. Christina then explained to me the after-care procedure, and I walked out. My mom was waiting for me outside the door because she could not bare to see her little girl in pain so I came out, hands shaking, to hear nothing but praise. I walked out of the studio soo happy that I had gone through with it.

The whole way home, I could not stop looking at it in the rear-view mirror. I know I was supposed to be driving but i just couldn't keep my eyes off of it. I made it home safely and I haven't had any real problems at all. It was red for a few days but now it is fine. I have gotten nothing but compliments at school and my strict choir director hasn't even said anything about it. I don't really seem like the kind of person to get any kind of facial piercing, I'm considered a "prep" mostly but everybody I know plus myself still thinks it looks great! I would certainly encourage anybody, even if you're preppy, to get this done. It looks really cute and trendy! If you decide to go through with this, good luck!!!
