I have always wanted to get my nose tongue and navel pierced since I was around 12. Of course, my parents did not want to see their oldest child with a ton of extra holes in her body so I ended up getting my navel done when I was 17 *a friend who is a professional did it for me although I don't recommend letting someone pierce you, you should go to a studio that does it and make sure you are complying with your states laws about how old you have to be before you can get pierced without parental consent if you are under 18* and that was pretty easy to hide, I got my tongue pierced when I was at college and because I didn't go home I didn't tell my parents about it. Then it came to my birthday.

I had been really itching for another piercing and as stated before, I had always wanted to get my nose done. Nothing really drastic, just a stud or something like that. I didn't really like the fact that everyone has them these days but ya know what, it was my birthday and it's my body no one elses. My room mate and I decided to go to Boston for the day because she had never been there (she's from NYC) and one of her friends from back home goes to Boston University. So we go down and one of my room mates friends Sarah mentioned how she wanted to get her nose pierced. Of course I ceased this opprotunity and said that if she wanted to get it done I'd be totaly willing to go do it with her. Everyone was excited and a little nervous for us all the same.

We did some shopping in the city, hit up H&M and Urban Outfitters and Starbucks to kill time before takin the subway over to Harvard Square. Amy's friend Karen (the one that goes to BU) assured me that the place that she was taking us to to get pierced was totaly professional, clean and had a good atmosphere so off we went. The way the shop is set up is, there is a jewlery store on one side of the hall--this is where you tell them what you want done, they take your ID photocopy it, have you fill out the release form and you pick out your jewlery. Then you go across the hall to the acutal studio wehre they check you in and you can just chill til your piercer is ready.

So we go in, I had to go to the bathroom so Sara picked her stuff out first and would be the first of us to get it done. After hitting up the bathroom, I went back to the jewlery store, filled out the form, picked out a cute lil diamond stud and walked over to the studio to join the rest of the group.

Now you would think that after two tattoos and two body piercings that I would be as calm as ever. I'm also pretty tolerant to pain, so I thought it would be a cakewalk. It wasn't. As usual I was all nervous even though I knew that once I would feel the needle go though it would be over.

After Sarah came out with her adorable new nose ring (tech. a little silver stud) that looked like it had been there for years I was feeling better. She had never had anything besides her ears pierced before and she said it didn't hurt much so to hear that from a rookie gave me a lot of comfort.

Next my piercer (same girl that did Sarah's) Alli walked over to me and introduced herself. I must say she was quite a hottie. With tat's up and down her arms *not sleaves but covered about the same amount of skin overall* and gauged ears and her septum pierced I was sure I'd have no problem putting an itty bitty 20 gauge needle into my nose.

My roomate cannot even look at a needle without fainting so her friend Karen came and sat with me while I got it done. It's just always reassuring to have someone in the room with you while you have a needle put in your face.

So Alli Karen and I are in the room, I sit on the doctor like bed and Alli explains the procedure to me, tells me how to clean it, what to do if I have problems with it, what not to do ect. First she made a little purple dot where the piercing would be and asked if I liked it, I said it looked great and now comes the fun stuff.

Next she takes everything out of it's little package and tells me to relax. I closed my eyes because, well, who wants to see a needle that close to your face. She told me to take a deep breath in, I could feel the needle resting on my nose then she told me to exhale and about half way though the breath she put it though. It was probley the least painfull piercing that I have had to date.

She put the jewlery in *which I hardly felt esp. compared to other piercings I have had* and I was good to go. I paid for the piercing as well as some soap to wash it with and bactine to clean the outside of the hole with it.

The rest of the trip was great, Amanda go a tat of a lil star on her back which is just adorable and over all it was the best birthday 'party' to date. That was in October, I have had no problems with my piercing sence. I finally got the balls up to change it the other day and I love it even more with my new lil pink stud then I did with the diamond one.

If anyone is considering getting their nose pierced I'd definatly say go for it. Most workplaces will allow you to have it, it's easy to take care of because you only have to clean it once a day, and you can do it in the shower, it looks adorable and gives ya a lil bit of spice. Always make sure that you are having a PROFESSIONAL do your piercing, doing it at home will almost always lead to infection and you probley wont do it properly making it hard to find jewelery that will fit it. As long as the place is clean and you feel comfortable with your piercer, you should have no problems with it. Feel free to e mail me if you have any questions.
