I got my nose pierced about a year ago at Chioko body piercings in North London, I had previously had my eyebrow, conch and a lip piercing done there so I totally trusted them and was comfortable with my regular piercer Cath so I knew what I was doing even if it was a random decision that I made. So my story begins...

I was walking down a busy street with a group of my close friends and the subject happened to turn to piercings, we all started talking about what piercings we like and what we might all consider getting next, as I said nose it kind of hit me that this is just the right time to get it done, as it was a weekday it wouldn't be busy and the piercing studio was just up the street, so after some careful deliberation and reassurance from my friends I decided I was going to get my nose pierced right away, so we travelled up the road to the piercing studio, I said hey straight away to my regular piercer and she asked what I wanted, I told her I wanted to get my nostril pierced and she gave me a form to fill in, the form was asking like how old I was and where I lived, normal stuff but I understood why it had to be done. So I entered the room and asked Cath for a tissue to blow my nose with (I understand that may sound a bit pedantic but I didn't wanna get bogies on her or something! )

So she sat me down on the comfortable chair and cleaned the inside and outside of my nostril told me to relax and take deep breaths, and on about the third breath she pushed the needle through, now I usually have quite a high pain thresh hold but I have to be honest and say that this really did hurt, it wasn't over yet though because she had to put the ring through which was quite a job in itself so she put the ring through and had to attach the ball which I guess she found quite tricky because it took her about 4 tries to get it on and with each try was a shot of pain. She cleaned it quickly again for me and gave me a sheet on how to look after it. She apologised constantly all the time I was there bless her but it was an honest mistake and she cant be blamed for it!

I cleaned my new piercing about 4 times a day with hot water and salt to make a saline solution after about 2 weeks I cut this down to twice a day just with a cold saline solution. It was time for me to go back to the clinic and have the ring down sized as the swelling had gone down and it looked fine but the big ring did look a bit ridiculous! So I went back to the shop and Cath changed it for a smaller ring, there was no pain whatsoever it just felt odd feeling my right nostril and having nothing there! When she put the smaller ring in, it felt a bit too tight but she explained to me that the swelling hadn't gone down fully and I needed to continue cleaning it with a hot saline solution, so I used this method again for about 1 week and the swelling went down and looked perfect!

It's been about a year since I got my nostril pierced and Im still very very happy with it, I love it and have had no problems with it whatsoever apart from the odd occasion when I catch my clothes on it but the pain goes instantly! It gets a lot of attention too, I always get loads of people coming up to me and asking if it hurts I think that my conch looks like it would hurt the most to be honest!! It's a very easy to maintain piercing and it gets washed everyday when I take a shower so I don't worry about that anymore, for anyone reading this who is considering getting it done, don't worry about the pain because it doesn't last long!! Just go for it and look after it!! I've also heard lots of horror stories about nose piercings but I'm very lucky not to have had any problems whatsoever with mine maybe because I cleaned it so regularly! But definately anyone considering it should go for it!! I hope my experience has helped anyone because I aim for it too!! If you have any questions or queries feel free to get in touch because I'd be more than happy to help in the best way I can! Thank you for taking your time to read this!
