It was a Thursday morning, and I was going into the city to do my day at TAFE and I thought to myself "I feel like doing something that will provoke some havoc in my house, I'm going to get my septum pierced today after TAFE". So after TAFE a friend of mine and I caught the bus to a local piercing place (which also doubles as a doctors surgery), but he was booked out for the rest of the day.
At A Glance Author AdZ When It just happened Artist Gavin (I dont know his surname) Studio Kaleidoscope Tattoo Art Studio Location Bondi Beach, Sydney Australia My friend got a call form his girlfriend, she wanted us to go down to Miranda (about 45min drive away) to meet her. Naturally I didn't wanna go because I wanted to get my piercing so I got on the phone and this question came out of my mouth, "Do they have any good piercing places down there?" and to my surprise she answered "yes" so off we shot.
We got down there and went on a search to find these piercing studios, all we could find were beauty salons and his girlfriend was saying "This is the place, this is the place", so I thought to myself "I'm here, I might as well try".
I walked in and up to the lady at the desk and said, "do you do septum piercing's?" and to my surprise she answered with "What the hell is that!". I ended up not answering her question and walking out. Nowhere there did or even knew what a septum piercing was.
We ended up shopping at this place for a while, I bout some sea salt and some cotton tips (Still set on getting the piercing that night).
After all that we ended up driving to Newtown (a suburb that has a real alternative edge to it), where I knew somewhere would be open.
Fair enough we walked into the only tattoo/piercing studio that was open, I asked the same old question and actually had a very convincing answer but to my dread it followed with "You would have to ask the piercer about that but he's gone home for the night".
I gave up for the night, Went to bed that night thinking about that piercing and how much I wanted it.
The next day I went to work, just waiting for the day to end. I worked as hard as I could to get an early day (even convinced the other apprentice to come and see what they do to pierce someone). After all the work was done we left (at normal time) to head to Kaleidoscope Tattoo Art Studio, where I knew they did piercing's there because I had my tongue pierced there.
We got there in a matter of minutes because I was driving so fast that I wouldn't chicken out of it.
Walked into the studio filled out all the forms, got the run down of the procedure and then it was in for the piercing.
With heart pounding hard and thoughts swirling around my brain I lied down while he felt around my nose for the piece of skin up there and cleaned my nose.
I then saw, out of the corner of my eye, He picked up the needle and lined it up to where it was supposed to go.
As soon as he said those ever famous magic words "Take a deep breath in and breathe out slowly I knew this was it.
I did that exactly, and I felt him put the needle through.
To my surprise it didn't hurt as much as I expected it to (even tho it looked like it did because my eyes watered so much), then he put the retainer in, gave me a glass of water and sat me down and explained the aftercare to me.
It was a very good experience and I will go back to him again, i'm sure of it After all that trouble, I come out of it with a brand new piercing that I am damn proud of having and always will be.
I intend in keeping this piercing clean and infection free, just like my other piercing's, Tongue, eyebrow and labret (retired). I always look after my piercing's because I see people who get them done and don't look after them properly and don't follow aftercare instructions and then wonder why it gets infected and all gross. If you get a piercing you need to look after it so it can be problem free and heal 100% like it is supposed to, you then have something to be proud of.
Just like how I am.
I have just gotten over a cold but still have the runny nose, I found out how hard it is to actually blow your nose with a retainer in it, but I guess it's like any piercing, you just have to get used to it and put up with the hard yards that may (or may not) come with it.
Thank you for reading me story, and I hope u make me a BME member.
Adam.
