I have wanted a nostril piercing since I was 12, when my friend came to school with an awesome stud in her nose. It was absolutely what I wanted. Being 12, I wasn't the legal age, so I begged my mom daily for 4 years. She told me that if I could get my cute grandma to come with me, then I was allowed. She never ended up coming, but I got it anyways. My one condition was, was that I could never EVER have a hoop (which, of course, is what I really wanted).

I headed to'Instinct' in Kamloops, BC, which was where I was vacationing at the time. There was no appointment necessary, but I had to wait for 30 mins, so I got a free bottle of saline, which I would have had to have bought, and I wasn't completely in the mood to spend any more money.
I was so close to backing down, but my mom would have flipped and given me the 'i told you so' speech, so I had to do it, almost to save face. I was finally called into the room, and it looked so spectacularly done. It was super clean and really professional. I wasn't sure if I had accidently walked into a doctors office. So the girl (Jenna was her name im pretty sure) told me all about the procedure, and was totally calm about it, which is pretty much a given, but I was super happy about that.

I was so worried about this hurting horribly, because the only other piercings I had were ears, and even though I had my cartilage pierced, I was so sure this was gunna hurt way worse. I thought it was equal the pain of childbirth. I assure you it wont hurt HALF as much as you make it out to.

Jenna informed me she was going to pierce me on my third breath. at 2 and a half I was shaking so badly, but at three, I was completely bewildered by the fact that it felt like a little poke and that was it! My cousin came with me, and she had just gotten hers done a month before, and she was squeezing my hand so hard. I got a little screw put in, and it was so adorable. Jenna was very fast and smooth. She didnt leave the needle in my face, and she had the jewelry already put in the end of the needle, so there was no wait in between putting the jewelry in, and pulling the needle through.

I have had my piercing for 4 months, and its been okay. I got a keloid which was gross, but salt water completely did the trick. I recently got so sick of looking at the same stud over and over again, including on hundreds of girls all over the place. I needed something different. I came up with the line, that if I got a hoop, it would heal quicker. It sounded so legit, so I went with that story, and my mom bought it.

Yesterday I made my way to 'to the point', which is in the town I live, and asked about a hoop. My peircing was a 18g, but they only carry 16g and bigger. I figured since I wasn't going to be in kamloops, and didn't want to keep travelling up there every time I wanted a new peice of jewelry, I would get it stretched. I also wanted to have the experience of having something stretched, but I dont think if I was in it completely for the experience, that I would have gone for the cartilege, just because its very non-stretchy.

The guy first had to pull out my screw (which i completely advise agaisnt, seeing as its a bitch to get out) and it hurt so immensely. he had clamps all over my face, and I almost shed tears in getting it out. He informed me that its completely normal to have this much trouble getting it out. So once that was out, he got out a needle, and slowly slid it in. The point where the needle got wider then my hole hurt a bit, but nothing unbearable. The needle rested on my face for about 30 seconds, which I was dying to see, but I dont think the guy would have been too thrilled with me getting up to check it out. He got the hoop and put it in, and I got him to turn the bead in, so the shock to my mom wouldnt be as harsh. She has seen the bead now, and says it makes her want to vomit, but I love it! I only paid for the hoop, and the service was completely free, which was awesome. The moral of my story, is to avoid screws, and dont get fed up and take your wonderful piercing out if yo u get a keloid. Have fun!
