I have wanted my nose pierced since I was 16, but I played sports while I was in High School and I would have been constantly taking it out and having to put it back in. I played softball and soccer and was a catcher and a goalie so I felt that I risked infection because of the sweat and dirt that could get into it. After I graduated High School there was always an excuse why not to get it. I said that I did not have the money or the time and it just turned into something I had always wanted to do or said I would get some day.

It turned out that their mother had gone to get her nose pierced and made her get it too. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to get it. Just seeing it in her nose made me want it so much more because I just loved how it looked. All of my inhibitions just went away and I was almost kicking myself for not getting it sooner. My birthday was coming really soon and my friend, knowing how badly I wanted it, told me we would go together and I would get it for my birthday. I gathered up my courage and we went, but when we went on the day we had planned they told us that the guy who did the piercing in the shop was not in and I would have to come back tomorrow. It was disappointing that I could not get it right then and there but this time we knew that he would be in and I was definitely going to get it.
The very next day we went and I did not notice how nervous I was until I had to sign the papers and my hand was shaking. I was even more nervous when he told I could sit in the chair over by the wall and he went to go get his supplies. In the back of my mind I thought it was going to hurt but I was always pretty good with pain so I kept telling myself I would be ok. I sat down in the chair and he made the mark on my nose where I wanted the piercing to go. As he took out all his supplies I glanced over at my friend for a reassuring look. He told me to close my eyes while he put the needle through. It was a pretty long needle so I think that looking at it sticking out of your nose freaks some people out. It did not hurt so much but more stung and my eye on that side began to water. Just when I thought it was over he still had not put the nose-ring in. But it was not working for him. Every time he would pull the needle through and try to put the ring in, it would not go. He had to pierce my nose three times with that needle before he could make it work the right way. It turned out I have a little more cartilage in my nose then most other people and it was hard to pierce through. It bled a little bit but not as much as I thought it would have. It was a little tender for a few days after that which I only noticed when I was cleaning it.
It was a little frustrating to the guy doing my piercing and also to me that it did not pierce right away. During the whole thing I even though that he was going to tell me that my nose just could not be pierced. The idea does seem silly but when you have a 3-inch needle stuck in your nose your not really thinking clearly. I was so happy when it was over and it was very well worth it. It was not even half as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think the reason why I did not mind the fact that it took a little more pain to get mine is because I wanted it for so long and when it was done I knew that it would be something that I would really like.
The first time I went to change the ring was tough and I had a pretty hard time getting it in. The second time was not that much easier but it did not take me very long to get the hang of it. Its fun to look for different rings with different colors and things. I have had it for a few months now and I never regretted getting it once. It is my favorite piercing that I have now and has made me get interested in getting other things pierced and try to find other "different" things that I might like.
