I have wanted to get my nostril pierced for 8 months, since last January! All my mom would ever say was that she would think about it. I looked at like every single picture and story on BME and saved them for my mom to see, since she was always looking through my things. I kept wishing that she would say yes but the answer was always maybe. Then about a month before my b-day she finally said I could get it done as long as it was a small stud. That was cool though since I was planning on a small stud to begin with! Since the law here is 15 with a parent I had to wait until my b-day. I waited for a month, looking up my last research and stuff. Then finally my b-day, today, August 22 the day came! She got off of work at 2:30 and my dad was getting off early so we could go and get this done with. I was anxious all day and then finally the time came when they got home. We were all ready to leave and get my boyfriend but then all of the sudden he was already at our house. So we a ll got into the truck and headed over to Captive Elements. Not to bad of a drive, maybe 10 minutes.

I showed the guy my school id and birth certificate and my mom showed them her license. He excepted it and gave my mom a form to fill out. She filled it out and we waited for about ten or fifteen minutes because the piercer was busy at the moment, piercing someone else. Finally he came out and called my name. My mom and boyfriend came with but my dad wanted to stay out in the waiting room or whatever you want to call it.. So he led us back to the piercing room and he introduced himself. We got in there and he asked me how long I have wanted this and I told him. He cleaned out my nose with some stinky stuff. It kind of tickled! Then he marked the spot and I looked in the mirror. I was not too sure about the spot so he marked a new one and I liked that one much better. He reassured me that everything was sterilized and I saw that everything was packaged in little bags. I picked out my jewelry, which was a crystal nostril screw. The crystal one wa s five dollars extra but I really did not want a plain silver dome screw so my mom let me get the crystal one. I was planning on a blue stud but that was not an option. I was very nervous simply because this was my first actual piercing and at the same time though I was excited to finally get it done.
Anyways, now to the piercing! He made me lay down on the doctor type of bed and stuck the receiving tube up my nose. I did not feel it at all. The only way that I knew what it was, was because he told me. Then he told me to take a deep breath and when I breathed out he is going to put the needle through. I did it and the needle went through. It was painful yes, but only for a short couple of seconds. Then the pain was gone. I'm not sure what happened after that. I know my eye watered for a bit, there was no blood. I was very surprised by that because everyone said that it bleeds a lot. Well maybe I'm just different or something! Then he must have took the needle out and put the screw in. He was fiddling around with it for a bit making sure it was in correctly which did not hurt. He told me that he was done and the screw was in. I got up to look in the big mirror on the wall and I fell in love. It was a little red but it was not that bad. I thanked him for the great job he did and we walked back out to the waiting room.. I got five dollars off because it was my b-day so I guess you could say that the crystal stud was free. We paid and then we left to go to pizza hut. The redness went away about a half hour after I had gotten it done so no one could even tell that it was just done.
Today is that day after I had gotten it pierced. It's going well, I use the sea salt soak and it works great! It does not even hurt anymore and sometimes I even forget that it is there. The only time it hurts is when you get bumped. When my nose got bumped it must have bled because there was dried blood on the inside, where it goes through. It tickles sometimes when the screw touches the side of my nose. What else? Well use an antibacterial soap to clean it. Don't use anything else on it besides the soap and sea salt! Other things can cause it to become irritated and you don't want that to happen. I don't like my stud too much and I figure that I will get it changed by my piercer in about 8 months, once it is fully healed. I might just keep the old one in because it looks okay. The only problem with it is that it sticks out a little from the side of my nose but it's not to bad, I guess.
I recommend this piercing to anyone who is thinking of getting it. E-mail me with any questions that you have. This is a great piercing and totally worth it! Have fun with this piercing and use the sea salt soak that they give you. It makes it feel good and it gets all the boogies off the screw on the inside. HaHa
