After 3 months of going into Brighton to get my septum done, I had finally saved the money to get it done and someone finally was qualified enough to do it! The last times I had gone in either J was there and she wasn't qualified enough to do it or I hadn't enough money! Just my luck. but this time, I had both the money and Julie, the boss, was in to do my piercing. Happiness! I was incredibly excited because I had wanted Septum done for about 6 months and it was going to be my most scary piercing yet. I went into Brighton on the 23rd of May, went to Punktured, the piercing shop I go to for all my piercings and asked Julie if she could do it. She only had one Septum keeper left, lucky for me, but she had to sterilize it. I went back half an hour later and she took me upstairs, after having to kick everyone out of the shop because she needed to lock up while she performed the piercing. I sat down in the chair as usual. My body knows that when you smell that disinfectant a nd hear the noises of rattling metal, you're going to be in for some pain, thats when my body goes rigid and I get terrified. Being the only person who asks about 100 questions about my piercing before it's done, the first question I asked was "Will this hurt more than scaffold?" She said, quite hesitantly "Scaffold is a pin prick compared to this" This did not amuse me! I gripped onto the chair so tightly that my fingers went white and there were dents when I let go.
She brought out the needle and hid it from me, I managed to persuade her to show me the needle, she did and I just nodded and smiled nervously. Julie had decided not to use the septum clamps on me because apparently they hurt more! She calmed me down slightly, wiped my nose with the disinfectant which stung like crazy. I closed my eyes tightly and tried to pretend I was asleep and not in this chair. She pushed the needle into my nose, but a bit too low down which hurt quite a lot, she took the needle out then pushed it through the right place! I've never been through so much pain ever! I was in so much pain I don't really remember her putting the keeper in, my eyes had watered so much I used a whole paper towel which by the end was dripping wet. Note, I didn't cry, my eyes just watered. Pleased with my piercing, but slightly giddy, I got given a lollypop, which was a bit useless as I couldn't use my lips like usual.
I was so excited I got straight up, ran to the mirror in Punktured and gazed happily at my bloody nose, I couldn't see the piercing but I was still happy anyway. I thanked her countless times before she stopped me from saying it anymore. I didn't feel dizzy until I was on the way home. I was sitting on the train and my head went like a roller coaster, I heard my phone ringing but I seriously thought that it was in my head. It wasn't until someone sitting nearby alerted me that I wasn't just hearing things, but that everyone else on the train was hearing it too, I don't think they were impressed!
Over the next two days it was sore and throbbing constantly, but not once did I think about taking it out, I already loved it too much!! Problem was, I'd wake up in the morning, accidentally hit myself in the nose and for the rest of the day act like Godzilla because of my bad mood, especially when I put a shirt or a jumper on or something, that hurt! Then, disaster struck. Two days after having the piercing, I breathed something up my nose. Confused, I went to the bathroom, breathed out through my nose and out popped the rubber O-ring from the keeper. In panic I tried to disinfect it in order to put it back in my nose, but by that time the Keeper had worked its way out of my nose and fallen out. In distress I spent an hour and a half in tears, trying to get the thing back in my nose. It didn't help that the piercing was at an angle. In the end I gave up. So as proof that I had had it done I put the keeper in my conch, but that soon fell out and I lost it. £22 for a sor e nose! Lifes not fair. I think the Gods are trying to tell me not to have it!
