This experience is about my nostril piercing; overall at this time it is my favorite piercing. I hadn't thought as long about getting my nostril pierced as my navel...actually a friend suggested I get it, and after looking at many pictures, reading experiences, and doing my whole 'search my inner self' and think about if I really wanted this piercing, I decided that I did indeed, want to be bold and daring and get a facial piercing...now the problem was, convincing Mum to let me get it, even tho I was going to be 18.

My mum is pretty open-minded, but when it comes to mods...well, she's one that is happy with 2 holes in her ears and her one tattoo. She eventually said she didn't care if I got it or not...and that she, after some time, would get used to it.
I got my nostril when I got my first tattoo and when I got my navel piercing, a day truly full of experiences.
I had eaten Skittles, composed myself some after feeling light-headed, and was ready for my nostril to be pierced. Mike swung the 'dentist chair' around so he could pierce my right side. I didn't want the left side simply because my right side, to me, looks better. Mike bent the needle to a curve, dotted my nostril, and I thought he poked it a little, but I was wrong. Then he put the clamps up my nose, which really wasn't a very awesome feeling, but I handled it well. Then in goes the needle into my nostril...I groaned, it hurt, not awful, but defiantly more than my navel. I knew it would hurt more because of so many nerves and what not, and when you pluck nose hairs, it doesn't feel pleasant, so I knew it wouldn't be. He threaded the screw through and I was done.
Mike dried a tear that had escaped from my eye, then dabbed a little blood away from my nostril and proclaimed that I was done. He let me look in a little mirror to see my new addition...love at first sight. I loved it, seeing the little blue stone made it even better. I had a choice earlier of the color, purple, red, or blue, and since blue is my utmost favorite color; you can guess what I picked.
Mike, again, said I did very well, and told me the aftercare. More Skittles after I got pierced too. I really enjoy this piercing, it's something people would never think me getting, and I like that, also it's just perfect for my personality, it's hard to explain, but it suits me so well. There is pain to this piercing, but if you want it, it won't matter, and it's very tolerable pain too. Try to think of it this way; there are things out there that hurt worse than getting a needle poked in you.
My nostril piercing isn't very noticeable at all, which can be a double-edged sword...for some uncanny reason my real dad did not notice my piercing right away, my grandma noticed it first and after she questioned how I'd ever take it out, did my real dad notice...and since he despised body mods, he really wasn't impressed. I did defend my actions very well, and the next time I saw him he was much more respectful of me.
Over Christmas I got a new nostril screw from my mum, and Christmas eve I put it in, it's a small little screw with a clear stone, very subtle and discreet, but sharp-looking too. That Thursday I took it out to clean it more thoroughly, but I couldn't seem to get the screw back in. I'm thinking it's because there is more of the 'L' shaped part of the screw than there was on my original nostril screw, and I think I was trying to push more across than down. Either way I got my nostril very, very angry with me, it was very sore and achy. Friday morning I woke up to do chores, and I felt the side of my nose, I couldn't feel the screw! I thought it had been pulled out, but no, after looking in the mirror I saw that it had somewhat sunk into my nostril. That was not good, and I immediately went and switched the screw back to the original. A few days later my nostril was fine again, and I now have my smaller screw in. That was the biggest problem I have had with this piercing, so for now I think I'm doing well, if you have any questions, feel free to email me and I can try my utmost best to answer them.
