I would like to start off with saying that I'm not too big on piercings. I would personally rather get a tattoo. However I do like to be semi original. Not very many females have their septum's pierced here in Albuquerque. So I decided it was the perfect piercing for me. Besides I think both males and females look hot with it done.

I like to find out somewhat about the pain factor before I go do any modification. I have one friend who has his septum pierced. He told me it didn't hurt at all it just made him want to sneeze. That helped me a lot and at that point I felt I could go in and do it no prob.
To the piercing shop we go! I picked up two of my friends to accompany me for moral support. As we arrived at the shop I was getting butterflies. I don't back out on stuff like this though so I forced myself to walk through the door. The shop was actually closing when we showed up, but luckily I talked the piercer into staying once I told him what I wanted pierced. He said that was his favorite piercing to do. I got to fill out all the handy dandy paper work and then paid. Then I walked back to the room to begin.
AS I enter the room a group of people follow me. There was two girls and about five guys crammed into the doorway of the room. One of the guys that worked there made a comment about he could not believe I was getting my septum pierced. That didn't help me feel any better. I finally had to ask the piercer to make everyone leave except my friends. Everyones side comments were not putting me to ease at all. Everyone left and I told my self I was ready to begin.
I laid down on the table and was making small talk when I oh so casually asked about the pain factor. The piercer turned around and looked at me for a moment before answering me with, it is one of the painful piercings. that did not help my butterflies at all. I could not walk out I had already paid and besides the guy was staying late just to pierce me. I also really wanted this piercing and I knew that if I left I would never come back. I sucked it up and told him to go on.
I thought it would never be over because the guy took forever to fell out my nose to decide where would be the best place to pierce. After about ten minutes he said he found the place and he was almost ready to begin. First he rubbed the ever so hospital smelling stuff in my nose, and he then again checked to make sure of the right spot.
at this point I'm trying to breathe calmly so I don't make myself faint once he puts the needle trough. He counts to three, and then holy crap the pain comes. I felt the tears automatically well up in my eyes.
He slides the jewelry right in and tells me the actual piercing is done. I breathe a sigh of relief and lay there so he can clean me up. he notices I'm a little pale so he asks one of my friends to get me some water. When she returned I turned toward her to grab it, and what do you know the damn jewelry slips out!Not only do I have do deal with that but me friend is freaking out because of all the blood.
Here we go again, I have to continue laying on the table while my piercer tells me he has to run a taper through it to put the jewelry back through. Doesn't sound so bad to me, it's not a needle. stupid me though, I forget to take in the fact that I had a fresh piercing and it was already irritated. He ran the taper through and it hurt more than the piercing with an actual needle.
Well, finally he was done I had jewelry in there securely and I was ready to go. All that was left was hearing all the aftercare instructions and then I was free to leave.
Walking out I had a sense of pride. I absolutely loved it! So here I am one of the very few females in Albuquerque to have my septum pierced. I would like to say that all the pain that I had to endure during this procedure was well worth it. Not only do I have something semi original, I also think it makes me look pretty hot!
