Ever since I can remember seeing them, they were always reffered to as 'bullrings'. I thought they were the coolest piercings! Once I found out about BME I did some reading on the septum piercing. So, I decided to get one done myself. I contacted my favorite tattoo and piercing studio and told the piercer I wanted my septum pierced. He was telling me that he was not too expiercenced with septum piercings so he'd have his cousin come in and do it. I was OK with that. I had just got done with my tattoo sitting so I told the piercer that I was ready for my piercing. We went into the room, and got everything ready. The piercer and his cousin started feeling around in my nose...with my permission, of course! I wanted the regular piercer to learn from it. They kept feeling around for the 'sweet spot' but, couldn't find it. I wanted it done anyways. The piercer's cousin got the needle ready. He was telling me that he wanted to do it with a 12 gauge needle so, I was OK with that too . I thought the bigger the better, because I had every intention to stretch it. The piercer told me that he likes for the person he's piercing to know when he's going to push the needle through so they don't freak out and move. So, he counted 1...2...3...it went though. I had a room full of guys watching me, so of course I wouldn't whimp out and start bawling! It wasn't too bad....A little tear came from the corner of my eye! It really wasn't that bad! I was all worked up for nothing!

The piercer ran over the aftercare directions. And told me all about salt soaks. So, after we left there we went to Wal-Mart for sea salt...and then went out to eat at a 24 hour diner. I got a lot of weird looks, because the CBR that he pierced it was pretty big in diameter size. So, it looked weird. I couldn't get over this thing in my nose! It felt so odd. I had to keep that CBR in for a few months until i was able to change the jewelry. I was so happy with my piercing. My dad hated it! I kept telling my mom how happy I was to finally get it done. She even said, it didn't look as bad as she thought it was going to! All night I kept thinking about what kind of jewelry I wanted to put in it when it healed, and all that stuff. I knew I was going to have to get a retainer.
A few months later it was my birthday so we went to the tattoo convention where they sell SUPER cheap jewelry so i stocked up on a retainer and bigger gauged CBRS. Unfortunally stretching isn't that easy in that area! I got it pierced almost a year ago, and have only stretched it to a 10gauge. It's hard, but i'm going to keep at it! I want it to be at least a 2 gauge. And i'll just continue to wear plugs. Septums are my most very favorite piercings ever. If you want one...GET ONE! But, be sure to go to a good piercer that knows what their doing! I've gotten a lot of stares whenever I have my noticable jewelry in my nose. Sometimes I wear a retainer, sometimes a circular ring, and other times a plug. At first it was hard on me because I got all kinds of looks from people, that made me feel really uncomfortable. And I hated that. But anymore I just wear it with pride! There is a difference between the people that get modifications to their body. Half of them do it because, it truly makes them happy, and it becomes their life..but then the other half only does it for attention. You can always tell the difference between people. It's sad that people would do something just for attention. I am one of the people that gets modifications because it is my life. It's how I express myself, and it makes me the happiest i've ever been.
BME is a great place to go to plan for your next piercing. You can see pictures of the piercing you want, you can read the possible risks that comes with the piercing. You can go to different links for jewelry, information, body modification origin. BME has personals, jewelry classifieds, updates, polls. You name it, BME has it! I just wanted to take this last part of the story to thank Shannon for all he has done for us. And for all of you who know what IAM is...I think we're all pretty thankful for having this kind of outlet to express our feelings with friends about our body mods. Thank you, Shannon.
