I have wanted my septum pierced for about 1 year before I got it done. I wasn't sure, because at my work they don't allow facial piercing. Well they have an exception for nostril and eyebrow piercing. So I was going to get a retainer when I got it pierced.
At A Glance Author manda Contact manda@bme.anon When A year ago Artist Pierre Studio Black Sun Location Montreal, Quebec At first I went to Adrenaline, This body piercing and tattoo shop on Sherbrooke. Chris (One of the piercers their) Told me he couldn't pierce my septum and put in a retainer right away. I would have this big unflattering circular barbell, I didn't want that. So I gave up on the idea.
I saw a friend I met on iam.bmezine.com at a concert, and I asked her where she got her septum pierced, she told me at Black Sun, and they can pierce it then put in the retainer. I was happy, plus they are a very respectable place.
The next day I called and made an appointment. I had to go in on a Thursday, I had work right after. 3 of my friends came with me. I always thought it was such a painful piercing because of the location. I have had other friends who have told me it was such a painful piercing so that changed my thoughts about the pain factor. Like with all my piercings, I was nervous. I heard that they were really good at making customers calm when getting piercings. So I wasn't all that worried.
I went to eat before I went, then I went an hour before my appointment. When I got to the studio, I felt more and more nervous. I sat down and waited for Pierre. The place looked really nice and professional unlike some other places I have been to in the past. I knew from then on I would go to Black Sun for my piercings. Pierre said I could only bring one friend in so I asked Vanessa to come in with me.
I met Pierre and he took me into the room, I sat in the chair, and he knew I was nervous. He really calmed me down. He explained the whole procedure to me. Well I wasn't getting a retainer, I was getting a small circular barbell that I can flip out and flip back into my nose, it looked better than a retainer would look on me. He made the chair go down so I was lying down. He looked up nose to find a place where he was going to pierce. He told me no matter what, remember to breathe. I was getting my septum pierced at a 14 gauge. We talked some more, and he reassured me there would be little pain. Well I was calm and he started, and he was telling me BREATH hehe. I was surprised! I felt no pain, I thought maybe he didn't even put the needle through, then I looked up at the mirror and the needle was through. I was so glad, it didn't hurt. I was really happy with the outcome. It looked really great:) Vanessa was holding my hand the whole time. Well he then was going to show me how to flip it in my nose. He told me to hold up my upper lip grab the circular barbell at the sides and flip it inwards. When I first did it I was laughing because it was irritating my nose inside. I was laughing pretty hard and my friends thought I freaked out. It felt really sore to flip it in and out. He explained the aftercare and he told me if I have any problems I should call. I was really glad with the service. Pierre was very nice and informative. He told me to leave it in as much as possible for the first 2-3 months so it can heal straight.
It was sore for about 2 months, when I would flip it in and out. I left it in for a whole month without putting it down. Then the soreness went away. Well my parents also didn't know about it. So yea it was also convenient, because I could hide it from them. Eventually they found out. So yea it didn't matter after that to flip it in, well only when I went to work. My boss saw it one me and made a big deal out of it.
Well it's been a year later, and it has healed properly. I really like it. I have tried many different pieces of jewelry for it, but I like the original jewelry I got pierced with at first. The piercing location may be deceiving you may think it hurts so much, but in reality when it is done, it is rather painless. I should take my own advice with things. hehe.
