I`ve always wanted to have my septum pierced, I had seen it on several people and really liked it but I was too scared because I heard that it is quite painful.

After coming home from University for my easter break I decided to have it done ( with the help of my boyfriend), yes he forced me to have it done haha, just kidding!
We went to Haverfordwest ( the location of the studio) and we decided to go to the piercing studio and I was definitely going to get it done, at first the piercer was busy so I guess it was a great way to chicken out but then another piercer came along and I asked her the price and about the jewellery etc. It was going to cost me £30 and I chose the horse shoe shaped ring to put in it, I was hoping it wouldn't look too big because I'd hate to run the risk of looking like a farmyard animal, but she assured me it wouldn't look too big!
They didn't take credit cards so I had to go to the bank to get some cash, all the way back to the piercing studio I was scared and really didn`t want to go back but my boyfriend dragged me there because he knew how much I would regret it if I didn't go back.
I went into the piercing room and my boyfriend waited outside, I didn`t want him coming in because I knew he would put me off and probably make me giggle or something stupid like that!
The piercer told me how it was a very difficult piercing to do due to the alignment of the piercing i.e. the straightness of the piercing.
He used an antiseptic wipe to clean my nose and then took out his pen and put dots where the piercing was going to go, he took a long time to do this due to the difficulty in gets it straight.
As he was doing this I felt a little more relaxed and he helped this by chatting to me loads about random things.
He had drawn on the dots and then put the clamp on, this hurt a little as it pinched on my septum, he carefully positioned it so it was straight and pulled it out a little, he kept it there for a while before putting the needle in.
He pushed the needle through slightly and this wasn't painful at all, he then pushed it straight through and it just pinched... I didn't feel any immense pain at all! My eyes watered like hell and that was about it! He left the tube in my septum for a little while. he did this so it would reduce the bleeding (which didn't make anny difference). He put in the jewellery and was done! I looked in the mirror and was quite unsure of what I had just done, I ran out of the piercing room and to my boyfriend who said it looked good, I paid the money and then we went!
It proved how paranoid I was, I thought the ring was way too big and as I walked through town I felt like everyone was looking at me and I got some funny looks from old women and some nasty girls in a cafe (they were jealous I bet).
It took me three days to like it...and only now I`m starting to think I made the right decision. I can't wait to change the jewellery to a smaller ring because I keep thinking it`s way too big but maybe I`m just paranoid!
I didn`t actually tell any of my friends I had it done and just went out to meet them and they were very surprised but they all really liked it which made me feel so much better, yeah I was right I am paranoid.
I think its healing OK, I have bathed it in salt water and tried not to move it too much (it does tend to twist when I'm sleeping ouch!) Its still quite crusty and a bit bloody but its okay!
After getting this done and my four other piercings I really want to get my belly button pierced, but in an unusual way because I hate the usual piercing, too many people have it done that way and it is quite boring! ( No offense to anyone who has it done).
Anyway, I do suggest that if you want a septum piercing don't be like me just go get it done, I think I would have regretted it and I'm glad I had it done, I really love it!
